Z3 D6603 Android 5.1.1

Hi All,
New to forum, have followed some guides before with my old Samsung S3.

Now have a Sony Xperia Z3 which I am delighted with...apart from an issue I encountered just today.

Basically I went to read a text, message app crashed, repeated to go view message app a few times but same result.
Decided to restart phone, booted up and checked again - all texts now gone...vanished!

Anyway I want to recover them as some messages are important to me and upcoming events.
I've read I have to root my device to attempt recovery of these texts.

I also read, months ago to be fair, rooting the Z3 also unlocked the bootloader which as a result screwed with the DRM keys and quality of the camera (which was amazing in my recent Rome trip!).

Basically I want to root my device, not break my camera quality, not loose my DRM keys and attempt recovery of missing texts (with third party windows apps most likely).

Can this be done?

Found this guide but it doesn't mention the DRM keys so I am unsure:

Any help is appreciated

Thinking of buying unlocked D6603 on AT&T

Hello,

I'm currently on AT&T with an HTC One M7. I've had my fair share of rooting and playing around with this and with my contract ending in 2 months, I've been eyeing the Z3 as my go to device for the next 2 years and intend on buying it before my contract is up to just replace my HTC soon. I assume that the D6603 is the best version for AT&T LTE compatibility band-wise?

1) Currently it would be a hassle for me to call AT&T to get a new nano SIM card, so I guess that purchasing a cutter to convert my current one into a nano SIM would be fine? I wouldn't need to call them up to mess around with a new IMEI or anything assuming I'm basically using the exact same SIM card?
2) There is a chance that I might not stick with AT&T once my contract is up. In that case, I've read that the D6603 works fine for GSM networks in general so either AT&T or T-Mobile would both work correct?

Thank you

D6603 is losing ext-sdcard

Hi!

For some reason my phone is losing scard "connection" sometimes. I saw it when camera is saying what is default saving place.

However when pressing and taking scard out phone shows icon that I removed scard. And also when putting it back immediately everything is just fine.

Card is Kingston class 10, 32 GB card.

Anybody have idea what cause this?
Also any idea how to fix this?

Restoring D6603 to use OTA Updates

Hello!

I bought a phone, with unlocked bootloader and root.
So i flashed it to 23.1.A.1.28 lolli, fixed super SU and dualrecovery.

The thing is, I now want to return it to stock, so that i can get OTA by Sony Companion, and i have no idea how to do so.
Searched the forums, and found a lot of info, but I dont want to brick or ruin anything.
Can anyone please give me a step by step guide in how to do so.
Do I need to remove root, flash stock firmware, remove dualrecovery or relock, or maybe all of it?
And probably most important, in what order do I need to do it?

Help is sincerely appreciated !

[Q] How to root D6603 with unlocked bootloader?

There was a similar thread, but it was closed, so I hope it's ok for me to start a new one...

My D6603 has an unlocked bootloader, it's running 5.1.1 (23.4.A.0.546).

What I want is just to root my phone. But if my understanding is right, I need to flash a new ROM to root the phone. Is that correct?
Also, can I just find any ftf ROM that's prerooted and just flash it to my device? Or I do I need to make sure it's not a smaller version than 5.1.1?

Thanks very much for any information.
I already posted something similar in the "ask away" thread, but it must have been the wrong thread, because noone replied.

[Q] Xperia Z3 D6603 manual update

Hi,
My Xperia Z3 D6603 din't get the latest 5.1.1 update from sony, as the xperia support site claims to be.
Now I know that there are tons of reasons why my device din't get the update, so i was wondering how i can manual update it.
Reading some threads I find out that there is a tool, called Emma, developed by sony, which is supposed to flash official OS on the Z3. That's why i downloaded the new 23.4.x.x update.
My concern about using that executable is related to the warranty and if it will be void using it.
Another doubt was about rooting my device. Here on XDA I found a little bit of chaos about it. Someone told that in the EU there isn't any problem about rooting my phone because all hardware related problem are warranty covered. Others told that Sony and other OEMs refused to take back the phone even paying for the fix, but I don't know if this rumours are true.
I have already rooted two devices, a HTC sensation and a Nexus 4, but this Z3 seems to be a little bit trikier.
What should I do?
