Rooted D6653 Stock 5.1.1 successfully. (long method)

:silly: (I had a TA backup of 5.0.2 stock rom before proceeding, and supersu 2.49 beta.zip).
followed steps like:
1. I updated My Z3 to 5.1.1
2. then unlocked my bootloader
3. flashed cm12.1 boot.img
4. booted into cwm recovery using cm12.1 boot.img
5. flashed supersu 2.49 beta.zip
6. reflashed the 5.1.1 kernel back using stock 5.1.1 ftf and flashtool ( only kernel dont reflash system!!!!!!!!! )
7. successfully booted into rooted stock rom.

FROM HERE BOOTLOADER LOCK WITH TA PARTITION BEGINS

8. run backup TA and restore previous TA Backup of 5.0.2 and reboot the phone( usb debugging must be enabled).
9. Now the phone is a locked bootloader with TA installed of 5.0.2 (partially compatible kernel but locked bootloader with TA and DRM keys)
10. reflash the 5.1.1 kernel back using stock 5.1.1 ftf and flashtool. ( only kernel dont reflash system!!!!!!!!! )
11. yipee.. you got a rooted 5.1.1 stock rom with locked bootloader.
You then can install XZ Dual recovery and can reflash supersu beta 2.49.zip if you face problem in mounting system R/w.
Finally Done. :laugh::laugh:

If you didnt had TA backup and are on locked bootloader then you can revert back to 5.0.2 , root it using kingroot, backup TA and then follow steps from post.

Successfully Rooted Android 4.4.4 on Dell Venue 8 LTE (3840Merrifield) India Version

NOOB'S GUIDE TO ROOT Android 4.4.4 on Dell Venue 8 LTE (3840Merrifield) India Version
TETHERED CWM METHOD
================================================== ===================
Visit and read this thread carefully before proceeding.

WHAT IS TETHERED CWM?
Remember this is called TETHERED CWM method. Tethered means wired. Everytime you start phone in recovery mode by connecting tablet to pc and copying files in Tablet with this ADB+Fastboot mode tool and use Custom CWM Recovery to do the Recovery tasks.

Preparations
==========
1) You must take backup of your phone

2) Run Software Update (twice) so you are officially on Android 4.4.4 and there is no update shown after that. I did this same.

3) Your PC must be installed with ADB and Fastboot Drivers already. You can find it on Dell / Intel Support Website. Or I will provide links later on request.
* Drivers can be easily installed and tool can work on any Windows Version. I did this on Windows 8.1 64 Bit Version without any issues. PIECE OF CAKE. If you have any problem installing then check FAQ section below.

4) On Tablet Open >>> Settings >>> About Tablet >>> Press "Build Number" several times to enable "Developers Options" in Settings. Now go back and again Open >>> Settings >>> Developers Options >>> Enable "Debugging Mode"

3) Download THIS ROOT TOOL and copy any disk but not on DESKTOP or C drive. I mean copy and extrac anywhere on D or E or F drive or onwards but not on C drive, to avoid permission issues of Windows 8.1

4) Download UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip (3.83 MB) and copy on EXTERNAL SDCARD (recommended) or Internal Memory (not recommended). This copy worked for me.

Now you are totally ready to ROOT.

STEPS OF ROOTING.
================
Step 1) Switch on Phone Normally and connect to PC with USB cable. If it is first time, then PC will install ADB Drivers automatically.

Step 2) Open folder on your PC where you extracted files of ROOTing Tool. Select "launcher.bat" and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. It will open Command Prompt Box with a Tool Menu as shown in thread mentioned at top.

Step 3) The tool menu will ask you to ACCEPT the terms, where you need to type ACCEPT in capital letters and press enter key to proceed.

When you type "ACCEPT" and press enter key, check that the tool is reporting as either :
DEVICE STATUS: ADB-ONLINE
DEVICE STATUS: FASTBOOT-ONLINE

ACCEPT
START TETHERING

Step 4) Now tool will be showing you three TRIGGER options to root. You need to type "T3" and start third trigger.

Tablet will immediately boot into "FASTBOOT" mode (DroidBoot mode). If it is first time, then PC will install Fastboot drivers to recognize device and in FASTBOOT mode, tool will copy TETHERED CWM on tablet and will show lots of text flowing on tablet screen. When done it will show Fastboot menu.

Step 5) On Fastboot Menu, you need to press volume up or down to select "RECOVERY" option and press <Power> key to start phone in NEW RECOVERY MODE. This time you will see completely different CWM with grey color background and standard working features of CWM

Step 6) Now select "Install Zip from SDCard" and select and flash "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip" file.

YOU HAVE ROOTED YOUR TABLET DELL VENUE 8 LTE 3840 MERRIFIELD (India Version)

Good Luck guys :)
