xperia s battery drain

Hi, after 3 happy years with my xperia s, here it is a major issue. Three weeks ago, in the middle of a phone call my xperia shuts down (battery at about 85%) and no mean to restart, it was like dead. No led if in charge or connected to my pc. After three days, a friend opened the phone, pull of the battery, reconnected the battery and, here it goes, it started again. But, another issue now, battery drains at 10% each hour in stand by. I changed the battery with a new one, same thing, i had a hard reset, same thing. Battery status shows 30% consumed by the screen (but it was only 15 min !) and google services 25%. Anybody has an ideea how to fix it ? Thanks for your answer.

battery drain bug still in Lollipop?

My L90 d415 KK has a battery drain bug that drains battery in one day even when it's just sitting idle.

A reboot fixes the problem temporarily, and the phone can go 6-7 days without charging.

Anyone with the Tmobile Lollipop installed have this battery drain issue?

Horrible battery drain when screen on only (5.1)

Hi, running latest firmware + 2.10.410.1 roms, tried Maximus and ARHD, both with prior wiping, dalvik/cache wipe, battery cycle etc. When i am actually using the phone it still gets quite warm plus i can literally watch my battery percentage drop 1% every two minutes just using whatsapp. Happens even when not installing anything except whatsapp, gmail etc. I tried battery monitor, but it simply shows those apps (whatsapp) etc, not really WHY they are draining so much power when in use. Standby time is perfectly fine....

Anyone else notice such issues? Anything i can do to test further?

Battery drain when turning wifi or Data on after airplane mode

Hello experts,
I've been using my trusted S II for several years, when only half a year ago I rooted it and installed NeatROM on it (jellybean). Even before the rooting, probably after upgrading to the official jellybean, I was experiencing the following scenario:

I put the phone on airplane mode when I fly, or simply turn off both Wifi and Data (over 3g cellular network), so to reduce the battery consumption when I go to bed and don't want to be woken up by texts at 3am. I also turn off Sync option so that different apps (like gmail or calendar) won't wake up the device and try to connect to the internet every minute (and fail).

Then after a long period I turn on Data or wifi, and then - BOOM - a massive drain of the battery, which is accompanied by sluggishness in responses to me pressing the screen or even pulling down the status bar. It is as if all the apps that need an internet uplink - Facebook, Messenger, Whatsapp - wake up at once and try to get online together.

Does anyone else experiences this kind of effect? Is there a way to fix that?

Thanks in advance.

S6 battery dump (rapid drain) problem

Ok, so over the past couple of weeks I've had more than a few occasions where my battery will drain very rapidly.

It happened again tonight, and I watched the battery % indicator drop from 48 to 15 over the course of about 15-20 mins. Once it hit 15 it then shut down completely, apparently completely drained, as I put it back on charge and it restarted charging from 0%.

I got the 5.1.1 ota update (Stock EE UK rom) last week, but it's been no help.

I've attached a screenshot of the battery usage. On screen time has been about 3 hrs today.

Anyone any ideas? Would it be worth rooting, or is it a dud battery?

Also, using the Nova launcher BTW.

[FIX] Google Play Services Idle Drain Solved

Disable these two services using Disable Services app. That's it, nothing more!

GoogleLocationManagerService

GoogleLocationService

Full:

com.google.android.location.internal.GoogleLocatio nManagerService
com.google.android.location.internal.server.Google LocationService

My Idle drain which was around 20-30 even with Wifi Data etc off was down to single digits with Wifi and data ON.

Other things I've tried and failed :

Deny Wake Up and Keep Awake permissions to GPS.

Greenify GPS , this only works for a shirt while but as soon as GPS is back online battery drain also comes back.

Get servicely to kill GPS.

Uninstall and reinstall GPS from play store.

Clear GPS data.

And a few more that I can't remember.

WARNING :

THIS WILL ESSENTIALLY BREAK LOCATION SRVICES.
If you don't use location, well and good.

If you do, you'll have to re enable these two services every time you want to use Maps or any app that uses location.

I use tasker to re enable them whenever the app launches.

I've attached two apps for enabling and disabling these two services, you can use then as shortcuts whenever you want to.

Also attached xml files of the tasks that you can import into tasker. Profile condition should be whatever apps that use location when launched. Use Enable service task as enter task and disable task as exit task.

Android OS Battery Drain

I started my Galaxy S6 920I battery issues a long time ago and couldn't find any help without rooting or tripping knox, so here's how I went back to a normal state. I want to share my experience with you guys and maybe help someone who's desperate like me.

device: 920I on Stock 5.1.1 India (G920IDVU2COF8), Brazil on VIVO network.

problem: "Android OS" process show up eating almost 50% of my battery, even on idle. I couldn't even get through the day. If I went to sleep and just left my phone alone with wifi, data, gps off and all apps closed, I would wake up with a dead phone.

conditions: I didn't want to void Knox since I think I can still use my warranty for something, even though Samsung offers a pretty lame service here in Brazil.

background: I've read basically everything regarding this subject and nothing seemed to work for me. Wiping cache, factory resetting, nothing.

method:
STEP 1: ERASING IT ALL
  • My phone came with stock 5.0.2 and I updated to 5.1.1 (Trinidad and Tobago) via Odin hoping it would solve my problems. It didn't, at all.

  • I decided to do a full wipe and flash 5.1.1 India just to see if the problem was relying on the ROM itself

  • When my phone started, I added my google account, normal setup, and then started disabling the useless Samsung features like motion gestures and Wifi always scanning

  • I DID NOT download any app from the play store, I decided to get them back gradually in order to try to find the problem.

  • I started disabling every app I though it was safe to to so. Here's the list: ANTT Radio Service, ANT + Plugins Service, Brefing, Dictionary, Drive, Dropbox, Facebook, Galaxy Apps, Galaxy Apps Widget, Google Play Books, Google Play Games, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Newsstand, Google +, Hancom Office Viewer, Instagram, Live Weather, Memo, Messages, Messenger, OneDrive, OneNote, Peel Smart Remote, S Beam, S Health, S Planner, S Voice, Samsung Galaxy, Samsung Push Service, Skype, Hangouts

  • I Kept basically Whatsapp, Hangouts, Play Music, Gmail and updated them through Play Store

  • Downloaded Google Keyboard since I hate the samsung one

  • Then I went to sleep with 15% battery. Woke up with 15% battery. Good job.

STEP 2: PUTTING INTO TEST
  • I woke up and charged the phone until 100%. Got our of home, wifi and data off.

  • I commuted for 60 minutes while listening to cached Play Music songs. Made some calls. Turned data on, used some whatsapp. Battery still on 94% at the end. Seemed ok.

  • When I arrived at work, I decided to enable instagram and Hangouts back and check on it again. My battery was on 92%.

  • 1 hour later, my battery was 80% and "Android OS" was at the top of draining list again. Nightmare.

  • Uninstalled instagram. 1 hour later I had a drop of 3% without touching the phone. Android OS still on the top.

  • Uninstalled Hangouts and enabled default samsung Messages app. Answered some whatsapp chats and left the phone sleeping, didn't touch it. 1 hour later, battery dropped by 2% with Android OS on top.

  • Restarted and wiped cache. Things went back to normal.

NEXT STEPS
It seems like there's some serious bug with the apps, but somehow there's s System bug that needs to be sweeped with a cache wiping. That's the continuous process I need to be doing on regular basis.
I wonder, would it be that simple? A simple app making continuous requests to Android System and putting it on top of the draining list, hogging all of my battery on idle for nothing?

Anyone had the same problem?

LG Optimus G Pro CM12 (5.0.2) Battery Drain (msm_hsic_host)

Hello All

I recently flashed the CM12 release of Lollipop on my rooted LG Optimus G Pro.
Everything works fine. However, the battery drain due to msm_hsic_host is confusing to say the least.
This is supposed to be mobile network related, and I have read forums where people say that this goes away when the mobile network is shut. However, for me, I am at home and only using WiFi. The mobile data is OFF.
I went to sleep for about 8 hours and I woke up to find msm_hsic_host had using about 80% and the phone was only in deep sleep for less than 1% of the time.

The phone NEVER goes into deep sleep. Deep sleep contribution is only about 1% ! Why is this happening?
Also, NOTE that the CPU Frequency stays at 384 MHz for 90% of the time! In the picture, it shows as 64% because it was taken about 2 mins after a reboot. What does this mean?
Battery Kernel wakeock screenshot: http://postimg.org/image/k6s0gl5s7/
Battery System Monitor screenshot: http://postimg.org/image/tq1pa1taf/

I have already hibernated Facebook, Skype, and another networking app. I am just lost. Why is the msm_hsic_host wakelock ON about 80% of the time.

Battery drain on my Moto 360 (15%/h)

Dear users

I have extreme Problems with my Moto 360 battery. I bought it on 4 days ago and already charged it from 0-100% twice (and 2 times from about 20-100). The battery stats in the app are the following with 25% of Charge:
Android Wear 12%
Display 8%
Android-System 6%
my Watch Face 6%
Clock inactive 5%
wearfacematrix 5%
...
I already did a factory reset and tried to use an older Version of Android wear with no success. Ambient mode is off (even if I would love to use it), brightness on 1, turn on on tilt is on, WLAN on automatic.

In other Posts I saw People can use the wear for over 16h (I only use the watch to read the time once every 20 minutes and talk to Google about 5 times a day). Ah and I'm using 5.1.1 and 5.1.1 was installed from factory.

Please help me...

Android System Battery Drain 50%!?!

I know there may be many people with the same issue or there is other threads but honestly I think this problem has messed me over the most by far despite changing through so many ROMs from CM12.1 nightlys, BrokenOS, Resurrection Remix, and many many more! I'm on Exodus ROM with everything else stock I have not installed my Amplify, Greenify or anything to help battery performance and these are the stats I received.

P.S My location services are always off, Bluetooth always off, NFC always off, Ambient display off everything I can think of is toggled off.

Note 4 running hot, and high battery drain

Hey everyone,

My note 4 on 5.0.1 running any rom (stock, poprocks, TekHD) runs super hot. The area on the screen that is right below the camera is unpleasant to touch. When running a cpu temperature monitor I seem to identify around 60c and when Web browsing and scrolling though pages it'll go up to 70c. This also seems to be killing my battery life. Over 10 hours I'll be lucky to get 2 hours sot.

I've gotten wld and bbs and don't see any crazy wake locks that aren't supposed to be there. Largest one is my Google play music which I do use. 2nd up is Bluetooth, I'm guessing because of my android wear device. I've also done clean installs where I do a correct wipe then don't install any apps. Still horrible battery life, still lots of heat.

From reading about it sounds like the heat issue could be a bad device and I should get it replaced? Should I try picking up a new battery?

Over the course of writing this post, about 4 minutes I've gone from 17% to 10%. :(
