How to downgrade from 5.1 to 4.4.4 on XT1022?

Phone is not rooted and the bootloader is locked. If there is a way to downgrade to official stock 4.4.4 without rooting and unlocking the bootloader, please guide me!!!

Or a way to root XT1022 on 5.1 succesfully and unlocking the bootloader. I signed in on Motorola website to get the key to unlock it, but their site isn't working. Their page becomes blank right after signing in.

I read many other how to root moto e on stock kitkat threads but How to root moto e XT1022 on lollipop 5.1?

[XT1022] 5.1 Stock Firmware

Need to be flashed via fastboot

Doesn't matter which ROM you are using !
Just flash it !
You will be on stock 5.1

Steps :

Download and install Moto E drivers on your pc. Link : https://motorola-global-portal.custh...p/30,6720,9146

Download mfastboot files and extract the files in a folder. Link :https://drive.google.com/folderview?...UU&usp=sharing

Download Stock firmware for XT1022 and extract the files to the same folder. Link :https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B05...ew?usp=sharing

Now, reboot your phone into bootloader by pressing volume down + power for a few seconds. You will see the bootloader screen.

Go to the folder where you have extracted Stock Firmware and mfastboot files and open command prompt there (Press shift + right mouse button and click on open command prompt)

Now, its the time to enter commands. Execute these lines of command one by one checking that each command you executed returned ok !

I looked over another thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto...-f2fs-t2841868 but sadly found no answer for the question.

so, has anyone tried f2fs on sdcard? How's your experience?

TWRP Backup of the Indian XT1022 5.1 Lollipop Update

Instructions before flashing

• Create a backup of the previous ROM


• Extract the folder from the zip and place it in Ext SD Card -> TWRP ->BACKUPS -> (Your Phone's device ID).

Now go to TWRP

• Choose Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Select Everything EXCEPT the External SD Card


• select Restore, select SD Card... You will find the zip. Select and restore it.

After flashing, REMEMBER TO DO A FULL FACTORY RESET (Important for avoiding bootloops).
