[Q] Adding apk with cache to ROM

Hello everyone!
I'm want to do such a trick - add some system apps to my ROM.
I've unpacked system.img, added .apk to /app/ and everything works.
But when I want to add some apks which need cache (.obb) - it fails - these apps don't work.
I've tried to add cache to /Android/data & /Android/cache in userdata.img - no changes, apps still don't work (but when I put .apk and .obb to userdata.img - everything is good, but I can't do any resets on my phone).

Is there a way to add .apk with cache to system.img to have a probability to reboot/reset phone and have those apps work?

Lollipop app cache location

I am trying to download a video that can only be streamed through a specific app.
I believe the video must be downloaded in any form like cache or something, so I am trying to locate it and copy to somewhere else before it gets deleted.
However I cannot find the file I am looking for.

I have searched following folders while playing the video:

/data/data/[app] - could not find anything useful, only few MBs total (the video is 20 minutes long)
/data/media/0/android/data/[app]/cache - only few files, few KBs
/data/app/[app] - nothing but base.apk and lib folder
/sdcard - all folders here are irrelevant to the app

So where else could it be?
Am I wrong from the first place? Can it stream without saving on local device at all?

Thank you in advance.

Can not mount /cache or /data partitions

Hello all,

I recently wiped my phone clean, to give it to a friend, through TWRP. I was stupidly drunk in the process and didn't realize that I wiped every possible partition! At this point, I have no OS, no data, but can still access recovery and the bootloader without an issue (thank god! not a brick!). I am fairly good with working on this phone, but I have ran in to a couple problems. Apparently, RUU's are NOT working for returning to stock. I have tried many combinations of firmware versions, including the original out of the box RUU's for my ATT HTC One. Not a single one has worked. However, interestingly enough the RUU will run without an error, but gets stuck in stage 1/6. I've left it overnight and still stays in stage 1.

After doing intensive research on the issue, I realized that my problems possibly pertain to the fact that I am unable to mount /cache and /data. I can't even repair permissions because of this, so it has truly hindered all possible fixes. I believe it may be due to the fact that I might not have root anymore, but I don't know how to get root without a system partition. TWRP attempts to do an auto root but fails each time.

Wonderfully enough, I have issues using ADB Sideload. It will flash a .zip until 92%, at which point it stops with an unknown error. I've tried with multiple .zip's found from HTC1GURU's Stock ROM Guru Reset downloads page. No avail. I've looked into other fixes and still no luck.

SO...I'm practically at my wit's end, about to pray to Mobile Phone Buddha that this thing will work again...

Any suggestions?

cannot unlock bootloader, cache partition probably corrupted

Hello all,

My Nexus 7 (2013) was bricked about a year ago by a google update, like many other. I just got around looking into it now. I'm having some trouble as you may have guessed.

Here's the current state of affairs :
  • Cannot get past the white Google logo

  • Can boot into fastboot

  • fastboot is locked

  • bootloader version is FLO-04.02

  • Can boot into recovery mode

  • factory reset fails on mounting /cache

Here's what I've tried so far, from several sources here and there
  • Download Official Android image and run a flash-all.sh

  • unlock the bootloader with `fastboot oem unlock`

  • factory reset from recovery mode

All of these end up failing because bootloader is locked or because it freezes (most often at some kind of wiping data step).

This is the output of the `.flash-all.sh` command.

Code:

floby $ ./flash-all.sh
sending 'bootloader' (3911 KB)...

Do you have any idea how I can unbrick this ?

Thank you all in advance.

Wiped system cache All services stopped

Hello

It was suggested on another forum to alleviate audio video sync issues across multiple apps you should wipe your system cache. I am running lollipop 5.0.2 rooted.

Anyways I did the system cache clear through recovery and when I rebooted my phone the sprint screen hung for a minute then a black screen appeared followed by numerous prompts stating that various services were stopped.

I keep pressing okay to each prompt and another one follows. It seems like the service / app is trying to start but cannot. I am left with a black screen that continues to pop up these dead services.

Has anyone experienced this? I thought a system cache clear was harmless. What can I do so I do not lose my data.

Please help I need this stupid thing for work.

Thank you

wiped system cache now nothing starts

Hello

I was experiencing the audio and video being out of sync so someone suggested to wipe the master cache. I did this and when the phone restarted all my services have stopped. The phone notifies me one by one each service that has stopped and I am prompted to press okay.

The phone wont even load the home screen. After the sprint screen it will appear a black screen followed by all the services that have stopped prompts.

Is my phone bricked?
