Enable navigation bar and disable capacitive buttons?

Can this be done with a rooted image or an app? Any ideas?

I should add that I did try GravityBox, but enabling the navigation bar there did not actually enable it.

how to enable on screen android softkeys

hey Everyone,

I tried to enable the on screen softkeys by editing the build.prop file to add the following line:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0

This was suggested in many forums and found to be working, but not on the galaxy s4 i guess. When i reboot my phone after adding this line, the systemUI crashes and the phone is totally unusable.
Have anyone tried to do this, or have you ditched the HW keys and enabled the integrated on-screen softkeys on GS4?
Please let me know how...

Thanks!

SM-G900F Rooted, how to enable Private Mode?

Since i have rooted my SM-G900F using CF Auto Root, i haven't been able to enable Private Mode. Using Google didn't help at all, and flashing the zip file found here did nothing. Is there any method to be able to enable Private Mode WITHOUT unrooting or installing Xposed Installer (We all know it is too buggy on Lollipop)

How To Enable OTG Without Installing An App In The Phone

Hi,
I broke the screen of my phone, and it is not responsive. Still I can see things and the phone is working. So to access the phone, I bought an OTG cable and connected an USB mouse to it. But it is not working (the mouse is not powering up). As I can not access my phone to install any apps or even if I install an app from browser, I can not open it. So is there a way to install any package or something which can enable the OTG support? My phone is rooted and I can access recovery mode.

Details of my phone:
Name: Karbonn titanium s5
OS: Android 4.2.2

How to enable HD Voice?

Supposedly the ATT Note 2 supports HD Voice, however I don't think it's working on the phone. Is there a way to enable it, or verify that it is enabled? Assuming it even works on our phones. Thanks!

5.1.1 'Enable OEM Unlock" Method for Bootloader Unlock?

So I just noticed today that the H950 version of 5.1.1 has an "Enable OEM Unlock" option within the Developer Options settings.

Does checking this option make it possible to use adb to unlock the bootloader? I'd do it myself, but I don't know the specific consequences of a failed bootloader unlock attempt. Experience tells me that I won't brick unless I'm actually altering files on the system partition. Does an unlocked bootloader entail altering files or is it simply a flag that is set or unset?

At&t H950, "Enable OEM UNLOCK" Option now available????

So I updated to 5.1, and noticed today the "Enable OEM Unlock" option. Doesn't that mean we can unlock the BL? I've tried rebooting into fastboot, or boot loader but I can't.

So is it just me? Or has just nobody said anything, or I haven't noticed it yet?

This should be big right? Am I happy for nothing? Hahahaha.

[GUIDE] Enable App Ops (Application Permissions)

While looking around at the decompiled SecSettings2.apk, I noticed that all of the App Ops (application permissions) stuff was still present. So, I decided to look for a way to enable the Settings menu option for Application Permissions.

The xml files all seemed to have the entries required to display the option, but the smali code was preventing it.

Note that there are apps in the store that will give you this feature, but this method doesn't require an additional app and it uses the built-in settings menus.

I have not tested every permission, but I did disabled "location" for several apps and that worked perfectly.

This is an easy mod if you know how to decompile/recompile.
  1. Decompile the deodexed SecSettings2.apk.

  2. In the smali folder, navigate to com\android\settings\LockscreenMenuSettings.smali

  3. Do a search for the following line:

    Code:

    iget-object v14, v0, Lcom/android/settings/LockscreenMenuSettings;->mAppOpsSettings:Landroid/preference/Preference;

  4. Just after the first instance of that code, you will see:

    Code:

    if-eqz v14, :cond_d

  5. Change it to:

    Code:

    if-nez v14, :cond_d

  6. Save and recompile.

  7. You will find the "Application Permissions" menu under the "Lock screen and Security" settings menu.

Enable on-screen buttons

As I don't like the default button layout, I enabled the on-screen buttons and disabled the hardware buttons.
In case someone wants to do that, too, I thought I just post the instructions here:

1) Enable on-screen buttons
Edit the file /system/build.prop and add the following line:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0

2) Disable hardware buttons
Edit the file /system/usr/keylayout/ft5x06.kl and comment out the following lines:
#key 139 MENU VIRTUAL
#key 102 HOME VIRTUAL
#key 158 BACK VIRTUAL
#key 217 SEARCH VIRTUAL

3) Reboot

Tested with CM11. Not sure if this would work on MIUI.

Thanks @chris5s and several other forum users. I know that there are a couple of similar posts for other phones. But I still hope this is helpful so that Redmi 1S users don't have to look in another place.

Enable Encryption unable to enter pin at reboot

Hi All,

I'm running into a problem with rooted page 4.4.2 release, if I kill deamonsu, with the terminal I able to successfully enter a lock pin and initiate the encryption process. Upon completion and reboot I'm unable to enter the unlock pin and after the 10th time the table is erased.

Any suggestions or ideas on how I can make this work?

Thanks,
Laz.

[WIP] Enable Smart Screen

This is a work in progress for enabling smart screen!!

I've only tested this on the H811 so far. I know there aren't too many with an unlocked bootloader so please try at your own risk.

So far I have smart screen enabled under settings. You can check and uncheck it to activate. The issue I'm running into is it doesn't actually keep.the screen on. You'll get the face detecting notification in the status bar but the screen still times out. I would like any help in this if anyone has any to offer. I've tried installing the wise screen apk from the VZW G4, but I get force closes. This one is from my Gpad 7.0 and I don't know for sure if it's the reason it doesn't work even though it installs and doesn't fc. My gpad is still on kitkat so there are no associated libs. I'm in the process of requesting the files from a G3 running LP to see if it makes a difference.. Just waiting on someone to send them.

So for now this is what I have..
Install the wise screen apk into system/priv-app and set permissions rw-r-r

Move lge framework-res to the system before moving it to the framework folder to avoid any fc issues. Set permissions rw-r-r before moving into system/framework/lge framework-res.

After doing so reboot

Upon reboot go to system/settings/display and scroll almost all the way to the bottom check smart screen. Test it out and rack your brain, let's see if we can get this fully functional.
