[TUTORIAL] Connect and Debug Moto 360 over Bluetooth

Hello all, I've been working on a couple custom apps for my Moto 360, and I'm loving it! After some digging around in the forums, I had a hard time finding DECENT threads that pertained to Bluetooth debugging for your spanky Moto wearable, so here is a quick how-to!

First thing, debugging by Bluetooth is EXTREMELY simple. This does not require you to rip apart your favorite USB cable or perform some electrical engineering Jesus magic to acquire a unique USB connection for ADB. YES, wireless debugging IS possible, and is ONLY ADB capable, NOT FASTBOOT capable!

This means: no, I'm sorry fellow wearabees, you can not root/unlock/or flash partitions through ADB or Bluetooth. It's just not possible, and quite possibly would never be possible due to safe flashing procedures. The chances of bricking a device over a wireless connection is exponentially higher than a cabled connection. This is mostly because of interference, range issues, all together nuclear fallout, or your cat is evil and likes to turn your Bluetooth connections off when you sleep at night (let's pray to Buddha this isn't the case...).

So, let's begin by adjusting a few settings on your 360 and your favorite handheld (that would be your cell phone, dummy):

** Go to your 360 settings and swipe all the way down to the bottom of your semi-circular screen to the About section. Poke your cute little watch face to open About.

**Scroll down in your About section to Build Number and tap that guy 100 times, as fast as possible! (You only need to tap it 7 times, but at least it makes developing fun). This should add a new option in your settings named Developer Options.

**Enter your developer options and enable ADB Debugging, at which point the option below this will become available.

**Select the Debug over Bluetooth option to enable what this whole tutorial is about.

**Now, do the same for your handheld. Tap that Build Number, yeah boy! (Sexual pun intended)

Great! You're one step closer to being Super Sayan! (Not really, I have no affiliation with Dragonball Z)

Ok, now we need to open your terminal/command prompt window and change directory to your ADB executable location. From this location we will need to run ADB:

Quote:

adb forward tcp:4444 localabstract:/adb-hub

then:

Quote:

adb connect localhost:4444

The first command forwards the ADB connection of the phone to the remote connection of the 360 by Bluetooth. The second command simply gets the connection initiated with the remote address.

Now, for safe keeping I will provide two options for giving ADB commands to your 360. The first option should be your preferred option for compatibility reasons:

Quote:

adb -s localhost:4444 <add you command here>

This code directs the command to your specific device. Otherwise, for quick code entry, you may use this:

Quote:

adb -e <add your command here>

This second code is a generic way of connecting to whatever debugging option is available, which doesn't always mean your 360. If you're a developer running debug apps, try not to use this command.

And that's about the basics! Super simple, and all ADB commands are available for your wearable. Don't forget, rebooting into the bootloader through ADB will require a USB connection, at which point also some Jesus magic, and let's hope you're willing to be a god for a day.

Have fun!

Is it possible to flash over a ROM to Android?

Hello

First of all, let me explain the situation:
My phone is the Oneplus One, currently with no OS, the reason being - because i wanted to re-root my phone after the Oneplus updated (this update was a while ago) either way many problems occurred and i figured the easiest way to re-root my device is to simply wipe it, and try again on a clean slate.
I attempted to wipe my phone, but did it the complete wrong way. Instead of using the OS's wiping strategy, i may of used the recovery's one instead, doing so i clean swooped the OS right off my phone.
At the moment, the phone has no OS installed - nor is the phone rooted. The phone isn't capable of passing files over through usb debugging because the computer doesn't recognise it no more. (It did have usb debugging turn't on). Of course i need to reinstall an OS on the phone. The TWRP recovery is working fine. But i do not know how to do it. I looked up things such as mounting, didn't really understand the vague explanations given by the helpers of this forum (i am slow haha :silly:). If someone is able to point me in the right direction in how to simply put an OS back into the phone some how i would be grateful.

I did read up on one post that suggested making a system.img placing the OS inside and flashing it over using fastboot mode. Which brings me to the question. Is it possible to use command to install an OS on my Oneplus whilst in fastboot mode ;)

What to do with all the left over space in /system

FIrst post ever since I joined xda back in 2011 for all the fun I had with my good old Desire HD..
Anyways...
As I am sitting here right now with BlissPop and Stock GApps packet (thinking it might be too much/big), setting up Link2SD to offload stuff from the 11.27GB small yet more than big enough internal partition asking myself "Is there anything useful I could do with the almost 1.27GB of free space on the /system partition?". Of course there is "Here are the similar threads we found:" but as these suggestions are either unanswered or 3years+ old, I thought about posting my first thread here since rejoining for my G3.

A few weeks ago I might have said something like 16GB(11.27..) is just not enough but as soon as my CPU started to throttle into the ground (hitting 85C more than once) just from syncing stuff I said it's enough and went custom again. Probably one of the best things you can do with an over 1 year old G3, yet feeling like build a week ago (expect for the horrible unit I got, that the first thing I did was to downclock and undervolt that piece of....beautiful CPU).

Although I might know the answer already, maybe there is something that I just don't know about, that integrates perfectly with the update scripts and/or is worth the time investment to get that worked out like building a core app package with apps I always use on a second rom/tablet/different phone although probably not worth the work, is it just as easy as signing in with that account.

How bad is the over heating issue?

Hey guys!!I am going to buy this for my wife. She will most likely use it for the girly thing ( no graphic intensive games!). I watched a lot of video reviews of the M4 aqua. None of them addresses the heating issues. But a lot of written reviews have mention over heating. My question is :

1. How bad is the Over heating Problem?
2. How often do you Face over heating problems?
3. Any over heating during day to day activity?
4. Can you make an omelette on the back of the phone while over heating?? :p

TIA.

I just upgraded to the Resurrection Remix version of Android 5.1, and I can no longer get SMS when using LTE. This seems to be a Android issue from what I can tell. Has anyone found a work around?

It is over for the Z3v

The Z4v is confirmed to be on its way to release on September 3rd. The first week has a promotional sale going on from what I see for three different people.
  1. The full price of the phone is 9, but it will go on sale for 9 with 0 in Google play store credit.

  2. For us Z3v owners, we can trade it in to knock off 0 to bring the price down to 9.

  3. If you have any other phones, you can trade it in up to in knocking it off.

I really love my Z3v, but seeing that Verizon has really abandoned it, it's no wonder why Verizon is now offering the Z4v. The YouTuber who has the phone confirmed the date, and he also discussed he hasn't had any issues with overheating on the SD810. I'm more likely tempted to get it now because if you just think about it, you do any extraneous activities on your phone, it'll heat up anyway.

Thoughts?

[Q] Does adroid have a function or library to register "on hover over" with a cursor?

(reposting from the general Q&A forum, which seems to have no idea)

some backstory, i'm attempting a rather ambitious carpc project, and the input method (i'm hoping) should be the apple magic touchpad.
its a relatively simple, sleek looking multitouch surface i can mount around the center console to control the tablet.

i'm attempting to add haptic feedback to this system, and that depends on having some method by which the android OS is "aware" when the touch cursor is over an object it can interact with, which would send a signal through some mechanisms to a haptic feedback generator (likely just a little servo that "taps" the backside of the touch pad) to indicate when you've hovering over something.

Lexus does this, or used to to this, with their weird little mouse-like thing, it made it MUCH SAFER to use the device in a car, less need to constantly stare at the screen to see where the cursor is going

so, what are my options here?

over 100000 times used fine location

Hi, first of all i'm not a native so sry for bad english (screenshots are in english tough).

I have a OnePlus One and I'm on Exodus with stock kernel.

My phone has bad memory drain and when i go to privacy settings to look closey at what my apps are doing i saw this:
imgur. com/a/9QbBS
Google Play Services used fine location over 100000 times in under lets say two weeks.

imgur. com/91UW5lm
here you see whatsapp reading the contact information just as often and half as often editing them.
What is going on with my phone? Has sb experienced sth similar?

Thank you for your time :)

How to install ze550ml CM12.1 over ze551ml CM12.1. (GUIDE)

Few of us were using the 551ml cm12.1 in 550ml.
Even twrp tends to give error when we try to install cm in 550ml.

The solution is simple.

1. Extract updater script from the zip of CM12.1 of 550ml.
2. Open the file with notepad++(I use this, recommended)
3. In the first line, just change the "Z008" to "Z00A".
4. Save the file, make a zip same as before.
5. Flash and Enjoy

Happy to share information.

System Data folder swelled to over 50% of the whole disk space after updating to 5.0

I have a LG G2 Mini and a few weeks ago, I got a notification asking me if I want to update to Lollipop - I did it and, to my surprise, a few days later all the apps stopped updating screaming that there was not enough disk space - being confident that there is at least 3GB free, I went to the settings to check and... there was only 400MB free, with "System Data" folder under "Other" occupying 5.2GB (out of 8GB my device comes with).

This state of things has persisted ever since and, as a consequence, my phone is really laggy, apps crashes often and I can't even update anything. From what I googled, some people had this problem as well on various devices but no one came up with a definitive solution. I've tried zeroing the apps cache but to no avail, it only freed 30MB or so.

What can I do with it, apart from the ever-present golden advice of a factory reset? I would prefer not to root either. Is there anything I can do, then?

Bootloop after installing a 5.1 ROM over a Stock 4.4.4 ROM.

here's what i did: i installed Microkat on a XT1068 with 48.86 bootloader, i formated my internal storage and my micro SD a day after. Today i was looking for a 5.1 ROM and i found a new SlimLP update, so i wanted to install it, and i did. The ROM booted up but there was something wrong, the wallpaper was the same i used on Microkat ( i did a clean install ), the launcher was Nova Launcher, the same launcher MicroKat uses, and some of my old apps where there, i don't know how it happened. So android.acore was FCing, so i went to TWRP and formated everyrhing and installed the ROM again. The rom doesn't booted up anymore, and i don't have a PC to save my phone, there is any way to save it without a PC? I know why it happened (its because i installed a Stock KK rom and then an AOSP 5.1 ROM, i already faced this issue, but now i don't have a backup or a Stock 5.0.2 zip file to install and free me out of this bug). Please if there's any way to do that without a PC tell me
