can't make or place calls, but SMS and data is fine

Hi all,

My problem is that my Galaxy S3 (i747M) cannot make or receive phone calls*, but I can send or receive most SMS**, and my LTE data is fine***. I've tested to ensure it's not my account with Rogers, or my SIM card. I took my SIM card and put it in two other phones, and both worked just fine (one Rogers, one Telus). Putting their SIMs into my phone and the same problem as with my own SIM in my phone. I have unlocked my S3 using the 4.2 trick, but I didn't have this problem back then. I'm assuming this isn't causing me issues now.

I used asterisks because each of the above has some additional details:
* I cannot reliably make and receive phone calls. For example, I can try calling the same phone number (home) 10 times, and it may only go out once. From my home phone I can try calling my cell phone 25 times and only get through once. Every time my calls out fail, it either sits at "Dialing..." for 30 seconds before ending in "Call Ended 0:00" or just immediately drops the call without the 30 seconds of "Dialing...".

** Most of the time I can send and receive SMS from any other cell phone. Occasionally a message won't send out even though I have 4/5 signal bars. Resending the message works. Not sure if this is related to my issues with calling.

*** LTE data is fine (using LTE APN). Switching away from LTE to just 4G/H+ and data is a bit spotty. Sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't. LTE always connects just fine.

I've tried all sorts of flashing and reflashing:
- problem started when I was on S3Rx 4.0, but I never thought much of it because most calls went through fine
- problem got worse when I was on Lollipop (CyanideL), progressively so
- used Odin to flash stock NF2 (downloaded from Sammobile site), was no different than when I was on Lollipop (CyanideL)
- used Kies to flash stock N__ (forgot exactly which one), still no different
- flashed different bootloaders and modems
- while in stock NF2 firmware, went into *#2263# and made sure it was set to Automatic.

So any ideas what problem this is? I just find it extremely odd that calls almost always fail, yet SMS and data aren't a problem. Of course, when my SIM is in another phone (Nexus 5 on Telus, Galaxy S5 on Rogers) I was able to do everything without any problems: calls, SMS, and data.

Thoughts as to what this could be? Is this a hardware issue? If it's software, what could it be? My warranty's out and I'm willing to flash anything or pop the phone open (already have to make sure antenna isn't disco'd).

[5.1.1] can not receive any calls with GSM sim

I finally got brave enough to update from stock 4.4.2 to anything else, I settled with 5.1.1, I've tried a few roms and none of them have let me take calls -- I CAN place calls.

this is using a h2o/ATT sim -- calling works fine using a pageplus/verizon sim.

I've tried global mode, gsm only mode, a few others..

any ideas, anything I should check?

Emergency calls only

Hello so after upgrading my i9300 to a custom ressurection remix rom 5.5.3 it threw me errors and I then put it on factory reset and installed a stock rom and now it seems that my efs is corrupted and unfortunately I have not made a backup of it but my IMEI is still attached. I tried using Ariza's patch but it only made my IMEI null, also I tried installing kernel and modem patches but that just made my IMEI generic. Any solutions?

Full signal but cannot make calls

Hi, i have about 1 month trying to get work a LS990 that i bought in ebay to sim unlocked and use it outside the US, i have followed every possible guide in this forum and still cannot make it work.

I am using the file replacement method with the modified files, and it works, the sim card is recognized and if i go to the network info appears the carrier network info. I get full signal but when i try to make a call, it ends immediately and appears the message "call ended".

I have tried over and over again, setting the RAT mode to automatic and Network mode to automatic, tried with ZVA,ZV8 and ZV4, same result, tried with different sim cards of different carriers also.

The bands are compatible with the carriers where i live, since i have acknowledgement of other people with this model working ok, what i am missing here?

Cannot record calls in lollipop

When I get a call or make a call while acr is running, I always get an error in my notifications saying call was not recorded. Does anybody know a way to fix this?

Mic Issue With Speakerphone Calls

I purchased a S6 last week and have been enjoying it so far. Today I tried out the speakerphone several times and every time the person on the other end could not hear me. Is this a software or hardware issue? Is it defect or user error? What can I do to fix this? Any help in resolving this matter would greatly be appreciated. Thank you for your help.

No texts, calls and data and service in and out.

Okay decided to flash candy last for a little bit just to get a feel of it. Flashed back to my stock backup and can't send texts or get them. Calls don't go through and calling the phone rings four times and to voicemail. Tried going through activation but even when it holds lte it claims no service. I do remember seeing an activation prompt when I flashed Candy maybe that messed something up? I'm lost here... Just tried ##72786# and phones reboots and comes back but it doesn't continue the process.

XT1032 Emergency Calls Only Issue

Long story short, my phone was stuck in a bootloop and I wasn't able to format the phone/cache partition through recovery mode, and had to restore or something onto the phone (following this tutorial, I'm not really an expert with this type of stuff to be honest so I don't even 100% know what it is I did), which worked, however, even though my phone was formatted, it booted with Lollipop 5.0.2 (I'm probably being dumb, but I wasn't really expecting this when I restored to "stock firmware"), AND kept the wallpaper I had before the phone was stuck in bootloop, and to my knowledge I didn't back it up anywhere or anything, so I don't know if the phones been fully formatted (I've done it several times today) or what.
But since I've restored my phone, my operating network just doesn't work, like the title says. I can't make calls or texts, nor can I receive any, and the data doesn't work. The status of my phone says that it's "out of service", can't detect my network etc, with any SIM card I put in the phone. I've read somewhere that it might be something to do with the modemst1/modemst2 files or something that I flashed when restoring my phone, but honestly I don't fully know what to do and everything I read seems to be different.
If anybody knows what I can do to sort this out it would be absolutely awesome and much appreciated. Cheers!

Bluetooth drops to handset volume on incoming calls while on a call.

I'm currently using an LG G3 Vs985 on Sky Dragon 5.0
I'm also using T-mobile on the LG G3

I use my phone for work a lot and the most annoying thing is happening. While I am using my bluetooth headset and talking on a call, if somebody tries to call me and my screen is telling to either accept or deny the incoming call, my bluetooth speaker drops to handset volume. I have to deny the incoming call, then quickly tap to turn off bluetooth and bluetooth again to get the call back to my bluetooth.

While already on a a call if somebody is talking to me while an incoming call comes in, I miss an entire sentance or two before i can do all of the above to get the audio back to bluetooth.

Is this a wrong setting I have on the phone or simply a bug with either Lollipop or Skydraggon?

Problem with microphone in voice calls

Hello!

I have a problem in mi P7 with the microphone in voice calls.

The other person can't hear me . However , if I use headphones with microphone or if I put the speaker, then they can hear me.
In addition, in the other applications microphone works perfectly , so I discard it is a software problem.

I installed a clean version of b609, b619, b620 and b621 and wipe caché but I still have the same problem. I am currently in the B621.

Anyone can help me? :crying:

Incoming calls not coming through

For some reason I'm not receiving calls. If I reboot my phone it'll work fine, but I don't know for how long unless someone leaves a vm. I have no idea what's causing it, nothing has really changed but I also don't know how long I've been having the problem. I'm running pure nexus rom and Franco kernel if it makes any difference. Any ideas?

No sound in calls cm 12

Hello i have issues with i8510 rom. i have cwm 6.0.5.1 and installed resurrection remix 5.1.1 before that i had cm12 5.0.2. both had the same issue. The issue is i cant hear when they talk they hear but i cant hear them. if i change to speaker i can hear them but they wont hear me it happens with everything and also i cant voice record still same issue phone doesnt take any sound from my side. I went back to cm 12 again. I tried disabling CheckInService it didnt do anything i installed sound about and still the same

Motorola Razr Maxx HD cant make calls in roaming

Hello all xda forum users. I have a small issue with my xt926 phone which bothers my for a long time, but i cannot find how to fix that. So lets begin:

So now to the problem:
Im from Lithuania. Phone card is the same from lithuania and carrier name is TELE2 PILDYK (local lithuanian carrier)
So when i go abroad for example to Poland or other country for example last time i was in Greece my phone indicates that im in roaming and i CANNOT make any calls, but i CAN send messages, receive calls from any one and receive messages. When i try to make a call i just ends up. But when i take the sim card from my xt926 phone and put it in my old Motorola v8 all problems are gone and i can make call everywhere i want. So whatta helllllllllll??????? Same card, different phones and such a problems. For example i found a internet data settings in roaming and if i allow data in roaming, the internet works abroad just fine. But there is no such menu for calls in roaming. Maybee someone know how to fix that roaming calls problem

Screen stays off when making phone calls.

I've noticed when I make a phone call the screen will sometimes stay black and won't come back on. Horrible when the person does not answer and I have to wait for the voice-mail limit to be reached or I have to pull the battery. I recently added tempered glass but I doubt that's what the problem is. Any ideas?

HELP... sound issues when making /receiving calls on Z1

Hi all..

Hoping someone may be able to shed some light on an issue I am currently having with my Sony experia z1. So basically every time I go to make a call, it looks like its ringing but no audio. A similar thing happens when I receive a call, the caller hears me, but I do not hear them. Having to shut down & restart my phone every time I want to make a call (or when I receive one) is starting to get really frustrating. I have not changed any settings, so aside from a factory reset... is there any other way to diagnose what is causing it and possibly fix the problem???

Problems with EFS and emergency calls only (have efs backup)

Hi

Previously I had problems with IMEI 0049 and Emergency calls only, but a user from other forum corrected this with remote using of SamsungTool (because previously I didn't make efs backup)
After this my phone was working good and I made an efs backup using EFS Professional 2.1.80
Then I wanted to flash twrp (2.8.6.1) recovery (using Odin 3.09) and then flash Archidroid 1.7.18 (with modem update function included in this rom)
In twrp there was a message saying unable to mount /efs, I wiped data,cache etc and tried to flash Archidroid, but it stops with this error:
"Operation not supported on transport endpoint script aborted: set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed Installer Error"

Then i decided to go back to stock (I9300XXUGNG3_I9300XEOGNG1_I9300XXUGNA8_HOME.tar.m d5) because previously on stock everything was OK
After flashing this rom with Odin, message Emergency calls only returned...

I asked my friend to use remote repair once again, and again it works - my S3 was able to make calls and Emergency calls only messagedissapeared).

I decided to try to flash Archi 1.7.18 once again, but first - flash I9300XXUGNG3_I9300XEOGNG1_I9300XXUGNA8_HOME.tar.md 5 with Odin.
After done this, message Emergency calls only returns, even if I try to restore backup in EFS Pro, the message still appears
Imei no (*#06#) is correct

I tried to format EFS in EFS Pro, but get message "failed:Invalid argument (I was hoping to format, and then restore previously made backup)

Do you have any ideas what is causing Emergency calls only message (with correct IMEI number) and why it returns after flashing anything, even stock rom?
Message dissapears only when my friend remotely use Z3x and phone is working ok as long as I stay on stock rom

Note 4 only displays emergency calls only after factory reset

Hi guys and thanks for taking the time to read,

I decided to factory reset my note 4 the other day, and no for some reason it will not connect to my service provider at all(T-mobile). I tried inserting the sim card into other phones and they work fine and pick up service. I am not sure what to do. I bought this phone off craigslist a few days ago, so I just wanted to factory reset it to wipe it. It was connecting to my provider and data was working prior to the reset.

Does anyone know how to get my note back up and running again?

HELP N7100 International Phone Calls Fuzzy

Recently I flashed my Note 2 International to Resurrection Remix 4.4.2 now.
I fixed the Google play problem and flashed the keyguard fix which I dunno what that its for but has slowed down my booting up. Now I have this problem with my phone calls when someone calls me the phone sounds fuzzy like electrical interference been working on this for 3 days now and still haven't fixed the problem. Going out of my mind here !

No sound in bluetooth headphones - calls working

I recently bought Bose SoundLink on ear bluetooth headphones. I had a Rapoo s100 before, and it paired and played music fine. The new headphones work too, they pair and I can make calls, but as of today I cannot hear any music. Calls still work. It happened twice before and a reboot managed to fix it, but I now I even cleared the cache partition and still nothing. The speakers work fine and the headphones work when connected with cable. Is it a hardware issue? Did I miss anything? Also, I don't have root and I tried both stock music player and Google play music.

Any help would be appreciated

Root - Reject calls and sms ?

Nexus 5 5.1.1 stock rooted.

Is there any app that can block, drop or reject a call without it going to VM for specific numbers ?
also block sms messages from specific numbers.

Ideally I'd like to be able to blacklist using wildcards and full numbers.

I've found plenty of apps that work, but when the block the caller I end up with the call going to VM and I get lots of junk voicemail messages.
