Bricked LG G2 D802, some advice ?

Hello guyz,
Unfortunately during a software update the phone just got cold with black screen.
I started searching and found a solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g...brick-t2904404
I used all info as instructed and managed to manually flash the partitions like in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2582142

But unfortunately i got stuck after the last step (ubuntu flash), the next thread does not help me with my "softwareless" phone.
Any advice how should i proceed in order to push the cyanogen 12.1 and gappa to the get the phone up and running ?
I currently have TWRP but a lot of features are not working, i guess it's as expected since it was hard wiped.

Thank you !

Tried replacing my screen, need some advice

I think I'm out of luck but I figured I'd post here before giving up on it. Cracked my screen, got a replacement, when I was putting it back together I accidentally broke the plastic part that covers the pins that hold the screen cable in place (see the picture). I am guessing I need an entire new motherboard.

MB" width="240" height="360

I thought it was that clip that released the connector, it clearly wasn't. This off itself wasn't actually an issue, I got the phone all the way back together and working when I realized I didnt use enough tape to hole the screen to the frame and it was coming apart. When I was putting the phone back together I accidentally bent one of the pins on the connector and that was the end of it. I tried carefully bending it back it only made it worse. I was beyond frustrated to have spent about 0 and 20 hours (I originally tried a LOCA glass replacement and cut one of the ribbons while trying to separate the cracked glass) to fix the thing and 1 bent pin turned the entire thing to a paperweight.

Please save your "should have let a professional do it" comments.

ROM advice

Hi all, I've just acquired a refurbished MT4GS to use as my main Android phone. It comes with the Stock ROM and I would like to try some others and decide whether to change or keep it.

I personally prefer stability and full functionality over latest versions, I've read that some ROMS have issues with video recording at FullHD for instance, and I would try to avoid this kind of things. The stock camera App is very good and if possible I would like to change to a ROM that keeps it fully functional. Anyone could tell me whether such a ROM exists or should I better keep the stock ROM just removing as much bloatware as possible? (all the T-Mobile stuff is completely useless to me)...

Advice for water damaged note 3

I recently got my note 3 wet (clean-ish lake water) and immediately got the battery out and the phone dissasembled and into a bag of rice.
after a few days I reassembled it and booted it up and I can hear the startup sounds, feel the vibrations from power up, reboot & charge and I also can hear all of my notifications including ringing calls.
The problem is I cannot get the screen to turn on*.

What happens is the back button and menu button led's light up at the bottom and the screen sometimes flickers. I have got the screen to turn on though really rarely (playing with it and removing/readding the battery, rebooting etc..) and when I DO get it to turn on all functions work perfectly as if the phone was never damaged.

My question is, what components can I take a closer look at that would cause this behaviour? I would say that the screen is kaput but when it turns on everything works....

I am asking here as my google fu has not dredged up anyone with this specific problem before.

I have cleaned what appears to be corrosion or water spots on the larger copper traces on the mainboard with 99% iso and dried then reassembled but no change in behaviour (it did turn on once after I did this and work).
I tried a new OEM battery, no change.

Any and all advice is appreciated and yes I will order a waterproof quality case if I can get it working again :)

Stable Lightweight ROM Advice?

Hello, I'm in search of lightweight ROM that's fully functional and fast for a recently acquired Dell Streak 7. Currently running 3.2 and it's so laggy. I would like full functional ROM. I mostly use this as a dedicated dictionary/e-reader/light web browsing so I don't even mind going backwards, or even staying stock but on a faster ROM than Stock 3.2. I figured you all would know more about this and I'm not keen on getting to know ROMs galore for this device as I have in the past with others. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Jeep Wrangler Android Unit - Need Advice

Gang,

Let me be honest. I'm not an Android guy. I have nothing against the OS, I just have extremely limited experience with the platform as I got caught early in the Apple life cycle and have far to much invested in it to jump ship now. That being said I recognize the flexibility of the Android OS which is what brings me here. In the past I've built a one-off carputer before the equipment was widely available (2003-4) and have always missed the flexibility that gave me. With the current generation of Android based head units out there now I'd really like to add that functionality to my new 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The ability to have topographical maps, constantly up to date street maps, OBD II, full audio support for any audio format I want, and the ability to install any other app I want is amazing. Here's where I need your help.

TL : DR - I know nothing about Android head units and need advice.

I had originally been looking at the JK1001 from Insane Audio but can't bring myself to pay 00 for an Android head unit. So I did some digging and found a quad core unit on AliExpress (Product ID: 32366565407) and it's really peaked my interest. Can anyone tell me anything more about this specific unit? Anyone own one?

Also, I'd love to run an external DAC on it that has 4V+ preamp outputs. Is such a thing made? Do they make a 4 channel DAC for Android head units?

Thanks for all you help!

Phone storage encryption - tips, things to avoid, or general advice?

(Verizon HTC One M9, S-OFF, bootloader *** UNLOCKED ***, Software status: Official, TWRP recovery installed, Android version 5.0.2, HTC Sense version 7.0 Software number 1.33.605.15)

I'm anticipating a requirement in my near future to turn on "Phone storage encryption (Protect content on this phone with a password)" under Settings -> Security. When I did this under similar circumstances on my HTC One M7, it seemed to adversely affect the performance of the phone. I encountered a lot of random freezes at various points (after entering my unlock PIN, waking up the phone, switching apps, even occasionally during phone calls).

In fairness, I had a lot of stuff on internal storage on my old phone - pictures, audio, etc. - that I now store on my 32GB microSD card on the M9. Nonetheless, the prospect of encrypting my internal storage is intimidating, especially because it's apparently a one-way operation, and there's No Going Back if the phone performance starts to lag as the old phone's did.

Has anyone else experienced any similar troubles after turning on Phone storage encryption? Also, I'm not averse to moving off of the HTC stock ROM; I just haven't done it yet. Is there a particular ROM that seems to perform better -- or worse -- with encrypted internal storage?

Thanks.

Rooting t800 kind of gone wrong advice needed

Hi, I'm super new to this I have no clue what I'm doing, but I did manage to follow the instructions of http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...-t800-t3079488 and get my t800 rooted.
Until problem occurs, at http://techbeasts.com/2015/05/01/roo...-lollipop-502/ step 9 "Once it has booted up, check out the SuperSu application in the app drawer. If it asks you to update SU binary, update it." When I open supersu app it only ask me to follow someone on google+ but didn't mention anything about update, couldn't find an update option anywhere in the app either.

I ignored this potential problem and then downloaded rootvalidator, everything was green only busy box was yellow and SELinux was blue saying something enforcing, I don't have a screenshot but these 2 were the only one that's not green. I installed busybox free and got busybox in rootvalidator green (from yellow). Not sure if the enforcing part was an issue so I left it like that.

So I use this guide to root t800 is to use xmod, and XMOD actually have their own tutorial on how to root and install and get it to work etc. just didn't have one for this model. I think I made a huge mistake of following their guide after this one, and got mislead not knowing wtf is going on..

I installed xmod and found out it isn't working, I installed kingroot from within xmod app and when I opened kingroot it shows my tab is already rooted. So I was sure it's not a rooting problem, I then found out xmod isn't working because SE is enforcing and I followed the video guide (from xmod faq) on how to make xmod work on enforcing device. I downloaded Link2SD and clear data+ unistalled xmod. But I also clear and unistalled kingroot (and kinguser i think?) and another app that came along with kingroot when i got it (It was in chinese)...
After this I lost root access and when I check rootvalidator it show my device is not rooted anymore. When {I click on supersu it asks me to update normal or from twrp/cwm...

Everything seem to be a mess so I'd like some advice is it better for me just to restore everything back to factory settings and root the device again? Sorry for this long and noob post I'd really appreciate if someone can help me out. Thank you so much!

Do I keep it or switch it? Need advice

Just bought the G4 on 8/6. I'm going in to return it tomorrow. It gets terribly hot and the finding location icon is constantly flashing. I don't know if I should just swap it for a new G4 or get something else. I know there is a root method but I've heard of it working and causing issues for others. I saw a thread where the My Verizon app was asking for root access. I know you can just freeze it. It stinks that the phone is locked. I'm torn between this phone and the Nexus 6. What would you do?

Thank you very much in advance for any help!
Best regards,

Looking for advice on the best ROM to install

I moved to a Google Place edition ROM a few months ago, but I would like to go back to a Sense based one. I'm wondering which is the best one currently.
The main things I would like are:
-Sense-based ROM
-Viper4android (doesn't have to be pre installed, but has to be compatible)
-Edited hosts file that blocks ads (or write protection off so I can modify it using AdAway)
-S-Off

So what would be the best ROM based on these? Any pointers appreciated.

Seeking advice - G3 vs G4

I have the option to get an entirely new G3 32GB/3GB for 150 EUR less than a G4. I know that this is relative thing but still would like to get some opinions, maybe somebody moved from G3 to G4 and regret it for a reason or another or maybe you think the G4 is better in all aspects, etc ... much appreciated.

Advice: Buying a new Galaxy S6 Edge

Hi Guys,

I come from a 32GB/3GB RAM, D855 LG G3 in Gold + 64GB Extreme Pro SD. I had my LG G3 since July 2014. My LG G3 toasted last week beyond repair, so Amazon refunded me 0 that was the price i paid for it. I'm currently in the search for a new smartphone as, i am currently cellphone-less. Thinking about the options available on market, even if i'm in an emergency and need to get hold of a new phone asap... i think i can hold on until August 13th to be sure what Samsung is going to come out with the Galaxy S6 Edge + and Note 5.

Currently i'm in search of a new 64GB or 128GB storage phone.
My contenders are:

Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB or 128GB (if i can stretch the money) Emerald Green --- Second option: Platinum Gold.
Galaxy S6 Edge + 64GB.
Galaxy Note 5 64GB .
Motorola X Pure Edition 64GB + Customs backs of the Moto Maker.

I'm not interested in the LG G4, as i just come from a G3 and want something with a more premium build and the G4 is not enough for me. Between these options what would you think it's best?? Per the news it seems the Note 5 would be lacking, - nothing new. The Edge + has my attention, but at least i would need to go 64GB or more if i grab any internal storage phone. Motorola X Pure Edition seems like the most sensible choice, but i like the design more of a Gold or Green Galaxy Edge. I'm willing to go up to 0 for my new cell phone as i just have been refunded 0 for my dead G3. More than 0 would be crazy, still 0 is quite steep.

What others phone should i consider if i'm looking for top specs and new devices?

I prefer devices with SD cards, but it is not a deal breaker. I never had a device with internal storage only. So this... scares me that i may run out of 64GB easily. 32GB i know is not enough for me. 64GB could work but i had more space on my old LG G3. 128GB would be ideal but the prices are $$$$. So out of internal storage Samsung's as of today... maybe the 64GB would be the happier medium.

Please guys, some comments would be nice as always more heads think better than one. If i get a Samsung, i want it to be the edge as i'm a girl... and love the looks of it better than the regular S6.., Green is my 1st option but it is the most expensive, i'm between Green and the Platinum Gold ... out of there, i wont even consider the other colors because those are the one's that i like.

I had a Notes, Galaxy, do not have a problem with phablets or big phones as well as smaller ones. I just need a phone ASAP- and since i have a considerable credit, i want to get a nice one.

Thanks
