WiFi Fix - always all channels on 2.4 GHz

IMPORTANT:
Only for advanced users!
You are an advanced user if you know exactly what you are doing.
You are an advanced user if you know what to do if something went wrong.
You are NOT an advanced user if you know how to do copy+paste.

You can bring your smartphone into a state, so it no longer works.
I am not responsible for anything. The following instructions are only suggestions.

Hello,
I want to show you a way how you prevent your LG G4 to limit wireless channels to 1-11.
This happens when no SIM card is inserted or if the airplane mode is activated.
I studied the log entries and found a line that said "[LGE_PATCH] For Country code DC. ....".
After a long search in the code I have discovered the place that is responsible for it.
It is located in the wifi-service and it sets the WifiCountryCode to "DC" if your location could not be obtained.
For me living in Germany it should be "DE".
The WifiCountryCode named "wifi_country_code" is stored in the "global" table of "/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db".
Changing it has no effect as it is overwritten instantly.

Prerequisites:
ROOT
USB debugging enabled

Procedere:
Connect your G4 to your computer.
Open the command promt and enter the following lines:

Code:

adb shell
mkdir /sdcard/wifi-service
cp /system/framework/arm64/wifi-service.odex /sdcard/wifi-service/64wifi-service.odex

Now a file named "64wifi-service.odex" is on your internal memory located in the folder "wifi-service".
Copy the file to your computer.
Now you have to edit the file.
Don't use the "editor" on windows, use Notepad++
With Strg+F search for "DDD".

You will find exactly one line that contains this::
"DATE_TIME DBG DC DCM DDD DDFName"

Change the value "DC" to "DE" for example (search the internet for the two-letter country code of your country (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2))
"DATE_TIME DBG DE DCM DDD DDFName"

Save the file.
Delete the file "64wifi-service.odex" on your smartphone.
Copy the edited file from your computer to the folder "wifi-service" on your smartphone.

Go back to the command prompt and type this:

Code:

su

You should see an confirmation promt on your smartphone that asks to grant root rights.
Confirm the message.

The command promt should change from $ to # now.
To verify your rights type this:

Code:

id

You should see "uid=0" etc.

Now type in the following lines (I recommend to execute each row seperately):

Code:

mount -o remount,rw /system
cd /system/framework/arm64
cp wifi-service.odex /sdcard/wifi-service/64wifi-service.odex.bak
rm wifi-service.odex
cd /sdcard/wifi-service
cp 64wifi-service.odex /system/framework/arm64/wifi-service.odex
cd /system/framework/arm64
chown 0:0 wifi-service.odex
chmod 0644 wifi-service.odex
echo "restart device"

Check the outpus. There must be no errors!
After hitting the Enter button the last line should output "restart device".

In the folder "wifi-service" on your internal storage you find the original "wifi-service.odex".
It is named "64wifi-service.odex.bak".

Restart your smartphone now.

As from now it does not matter whether a SIM card is inserted or if the airplane mode is activated.
The WiFi channels are no longer limited to 1-11. You can now always use 12 and 13.

Did the instructions help you?
Please give a "Thanks!"

Thank you ;)

App that keeps ambient mode always on?

So I found this one app " Swipify" that lets me keep the watch face on full time. I like it but it drains the battery a bit faster then I would like. Also when charging the watch the round charge progress bar does not advance so I have no idea how charged it is until I take it off the dock. So I un-installed it. I am looking for an app that will let me keep the watch in the dimmed "Ambient mode" full time and then when I lift the watch to look at it, have it to the full watch face mode until I set my arm back down.

Anyone make such a add-on app by chance? :fingers-crossed:

Or should I start learning how to code apps?

Any chance they (moto) will update with such features?

Thanks,

-DK

[Q] Wifi Always allow scanning turns on automatically and shows in battery usage

Hi guys

I noticed countless times that randomly when turning on wifi and then turning it off, the "always allow scanning" under advanced options is ticked.
I noticed this because then under battery usage you will see wifi active even tho main switch is off and 99% of the time that is why.

Is it a lollipop 5.0 bug or is it some of my apps that can switch that option when they detect wifi has been activated?

Also, it seems that if i dont turn on wifi in the first place, that option never becomes active. Battery life is very good on my phone so not a deal breaker....

Anyone knows?
Thanks

Huawei Mate 7 indicator always on after water

The phone got a little moisture and after that, the volume button didnt work properly and the power button also, so I couldnt actually turn it off. So I took a hair dryer and pointed it at the buttons for 20 sec and then it worked.. I shut off the phone and red light still on. Then I put it in rice and now 2 hour later the indicator has turned green ??? And it is still always on. I tried powering off again but it is still on.

Anyone who has got any ideas?

[Q] Pin programs to always run on desktop? (Rainmeter, etc.)

Hello XDA. I recently updated to WIndows 10 on my desktop at home, I have it installed on a rather outdated Dell Optiplex 755 tower (which I found impressive considering it's a new OS but still supports a wide variety of devices). I am a huge Rainmeter fan, I've used it religiously since Windows 7 and I love it's many options and themes. Currently (like my previous versions of Windows) I have it always running on my desktop, everything from a minimal clock to a notepad, system diagnostics and CPU bars, weather, etc. Like Windows 7 and 8/8.1, Windows 10 has the "jump to desktop" shortcut button on the far right of the taskbar at the bottom if you want to jump to your desktop and minimize all other open windows. In Windows 7 and 8/8.1, if you clicked on this button you would jump to the desktop but rainmeter (or any other desktop customization tool) would remain there unaltered. You could jump to your desktop, but it would not close or minimize unless you specifically made it do so.

So my question is, is there any method to make this happen in Windows 10? I use Rainmeter all the time, and I'm glad that Windows 10 continues to support it's use. But every time I jump to my desktop from the taskbar, Rainmeter is closed out along with any other desktop tools I have running and I have to manually restart them to make them visible again (basically, "jump to desktop" brings up my wallpaper and whatever shortcuts are immediately visible, and that's it).

Perhaps there is a registry tweak or some other option to fix this. I'm familiar with windows, but I couldn't seem to find any details that would help within the registry editor or other system settings. Please help me with this issue, it would be GREATLY appreciated, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants this fixed as Rainmeter is a relatively popular application for Windows.

Camera Settings Always Reset On Its Own.

Has anyone figured out how to prevent the camera settings from going back to their default settings? This happens at least once a day or even more if I use the gps. I think it has something to do with the camera being attached to the location services with geo tagging. It happens if I leave it on or off. Just gets really annoying having to always change it back to save my pics to internal storage and the front facing camera to 8mp.

S6 sinds 5.1.1 not always active in sleep mode?

Since upgrading my S6 to 5.1.1 my S6 seems to put apps to sleep with screen off, but not always.
So twitter for example is still receiving updates.
But Whatsapp not always, so sometimes need to open the app before it receives its messages.
Same goes for the web app from whatsapp, when the phone goes to sleep after 1 min +/-'s the app goes to sleep and the web app loses its connection.
This was never the case before the upgrade and is insanely annoying.

The keep wifi alive while asleep is on....
Tried the option under #*011* for the wifi power management, but does not seem to fix it.
As twitter still works it also seems to be something else?

Anyone know this problem and better yet how to fix it?

Is there a way to modify the Always On clock?

Not sure why Samsung blocked developers from having their own custom Always On clock but it is a real crappy thing to do. I would love a bigger digital clock with the the date that doesn't move for my Always On.
