HTC One battery life (ROM, downgrade etc. questions)

Hello!
My HTC One is now 2.5 years old and the battery life begins to drop. So now my questions are:
-Which rom has the best battery life?
-Which rom do you use and how does your battery perform?
-Is it useful to downgrade to an older version of android to increase battery performance?

I get like under 4 hours of screen-on time with brightness set to lowest. (I use the GPE Plus rom)
I also tried to use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/andr...ition-t2809443
After installing that, battery life got just a little bit better.

Well, that´s it and thanks for reading it ^^

Convert Canadian 6045i to US 6045i with all updates (performance, stagefright, etc).

Be very careful doing this, you could brick your phone if you aren't - you have been warned.

Okay, so, us Idol 3 users in Canada are stuck waiting for Alcatel to have any updates blessed by our cell carrier (Bell/Virgin, Telus/Koodo) before we're "allowed" to get them. And as we all know, Canadian cell carrier aren't exactly prompt about this sort of thing. So what's an enterprising XDA user to do, then? Why, convert your device to a US model, of course!

Step 1: Install TWRP
That can be done with this thread here, courtesy of @DallasCZ

Step 2: Download the latest US firmware
That can be done by downloading this file here, courtesy of @famewolf

Step 3: Flashing
Okay, so first, BACK UP YOUR EXISTING FIRMWARE. Take a system image, or nandroid, as your choice may be. Then, do the following:
  • Decompress the US firmware

  • Copy the decompressed 1970-01-22--16-43-23_LRX22G_release-keys folder into your TWRP/Backups/XXXXX/ folder on your External SD card or USB-OTG storage, where XXXXX is your device ID assigned by TWRP when you backed up your existing firmware.

  • Wipe everything *but* External SD and USB-OTG in TWRP.

  • DO NOT REBOOT - go back, and select Restore in TWRP. Pick the US firmware backup.

  • Flash *both* the boot and system image.

  • Reboot System. If your phone does the same as mine, it will seem to get stuck on the 'Alcatel/Smart Move' animation. Hold power until the phone turns off, then turn it back on. It should quickly go to 'Upgrading Android'.

  • You're done! Set up your device, and feel free to install SuperSU, remove bloatware (AVG? Ugh), etc.

I didn't even need to add APN info for Virgin Mobile, it already set up the Bell Canada APN - worked right away out of the box.

One comment to note - I do not know that a Canadian device converted to a US one can get OTA updates, as I believe Alcatel uses some sort of IMEI identification to see what OTA ought to be passed to a device, but I'm unable to confirm this. Of course, I'm personally fine with just manually updating when need be, but that's up to you to decide if you are as well.

AS ALWAYS, BE CAREFUL, DO THIS PROCESS AT YOUR OWN RISK
Don't forget to thank @DallasCZ and @famewolf for their posts/uploads making this possible!

Bricked Huawei HiSilicon phones - Honor P6, Mate, 4C etc... way to unbrick???

Hi people.
I have new bricked Huawei Honor 4c with HiSilicon Kirin 620 octacore (Hi6620) Hardly bricked.
I`ve unlocked bootloader and custom recovery used to flash it with my own update.zip from other phone (with LTE support). At the end of flashing - it turned off and bricked.
BUT! After connecting to PC via USB it flashes GREEN and RED leds a few times and after windows determines it as a device with USB\VID_12D1&PID_3609&REV_0000 and named as 䕇䕎䥎 ㄰㌲㔴㜶㤸 .
It is Huawei`s VID. And after a lot of search I found a driver for it - and device became HUAWEI USB-COM 1.0. But nothing else.
No flash utility, nothing. HiSilicon-IDT for K3 processor doesn`t work.

After another searches I found very similar device - it`s named HiKey board. Based on Hisilicon Kirin processor too https://www.96boards.org/.

Quote:

This board is base around the HiSilicon Kirin 6220 eight-core ARM Cortex-A53 64-bit SoC running at 1.2GHz and delivering over 10,000 Dhrystone VAX MIPS total performance. The SoC also delivers high performance 3D graphics support with its ARM Mali 450-MP4 GPU.

1GB 800MHz LPDDR3 DRAM, 4GB eMMC Flash Storage and the standard 96Boards microSD v3.0 socket provide high performance. Flexible storage options and connectivity are available through 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, three high speed USB 2.0 ports (1 OTG), an HDMI 1.3 1080p video output with audio, and Maker, DSI display and CSI camera interfaces. The board is the standard 96Boards credit-card form factor powered by an 8-18V DC 2A power supply.

As we can see - it is very close to ours phone.
It is fully documented and has a lot of spec about proc and other.
And in it`s manual written about recovery procedure after damage of ROM - when device is powered on - it is in "download mode" for 90 seconds - abslolutly like mine phone - after 90 second it turns off from windows.
In short - it is ability to write 2 fastboot images (fastboot1.img and fastboot2.img) in RAM, launch them and using fastboot command flash images to eMMC. They use SERIAL COM PORT to manipulate with device.
It uses utility called "hisi-idt.py" - it is a python script for Linux based machines.
I`ve Installed Linux Mint and try it.
And I`ve some result - first image is going fine and I receive "Done"
But second image is always "Failed". And fastboot command "fastboot devices" do not list any devices.
Viewing binaries from my ROM (Fastboot.img and Fastboot1.img) in HEX - I can see load addresses to ROM are the same as in python script. It is 0xf9800800 and 0x0700000 for both images.
But.... have no success. It looks like I`m close to the goal.
Any ideas?

[Q] Pin programs to always run on desktop? (Rainmeter, etc.)

Hello XDA. I recently updated to WIndows 10 on my desktop at home, I have it installed on a rather outdated Dell Optiplex 755 tower (which I found impressive considering it's a new OS but still supports a wide variety of devices). I am a huge Rainmeter fan, I've used it religiously since Windows 7 and I love it's many options and themes. Currently (like my previous versions of Windows) I have it always running on my desktop, everything from a minimal clock to a notepad, system diagnostics and CPU bars, weather, etc. Like Windows 7 and 8/8.1, Windows 10 has the "jump to desktop" shortcut button on the far right of the taskbar at the bottom if you want to jump to your desktop and minimize all other open windows. In Windows 7 and 8/8.1, if you clicked on this button you would jump to the desktop but rainmeter (or any other desktop customization tool) would remain there unaltered. You could jump to your desktop, but it would not close or minimize unless you specifically made it do so.

So my question is, is there any method to make this happen in Windows 10? I use Rainmeter all the time, and I'm glad that Windows 10 continues to support it's use. But every time I jump to my desktop from the taskbar, Rainmeter is closed out along with any other desktop tools I have running and I have to manually restart them to make them visible again (basically, "jump to desktop" brings up my wallpaper and whatever shortcuts are immediately visible, and that's it).

Perhaps there is a registry tweak or some other option to fix this. I'm familiar with windows, but I couldn't seem to find any details that would help within the registry editor or other system settings. Please help me with this issue, it would be GREATLY appreciated, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants this fixed as Rainmeter is a relatively popular application for Windows.

System dump with apps, ringtones, etc.

Can anyone please upload the system dump of the new moto g?
