rom installation guidance

I am looking for guidance on how to install roms for my newly rooted g3.

The various rom threads refer to 23c, 24b, etc..
In the directions on the respective rom pages, it does not address if I have do do anything about that during installation.

I have a phone that states 23c in "software version".

What do I have to do, if anything, to intall a room that incorporates software version 24b? Or if I intall a 24b rom, does the rom install everything I need?
Thanks!

Hello.. My xperia P phone has usb problem it does not connect to any computer, USB is almost dead only charging works. I unlocked the boot loader but could not install cwm recovery mode. Is there any way to install CWM without USB connection? I tried installing using busy box and root browser but not sure about the files whether it was compatible.. The root checker shows the phone is unrooted but it shows unlocked when *#*#7378423#*#* service test used......

[CWM] Installation guide for PhilZ Touch 6 via Odin for Galaxy Pocket Neo GT-S5310/2

What is PhilZ?
PhilZ Touch recovery is an advanced edition of cwm recovery, that provides more options and you can use the touch.
The original thread was posted by @karthick mostwanted who created this recovery for this device. He did it flashable with Rashr on a .img file, but the developer Leonnard Rai, made it flashable with Odin. In my case, I tried with Rashr but did not flashed the recovery, so I tried the Odin version, and it worked. I think it was due to the ROM I installed to my cell phone, because the developer posted it on the original development section. So in conclusion, this should work in case you have a ROM installed. See the original thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/pock...touch-t2937983

Requisites: To know how to use Odin :silly:

Instructions
After you flash the recovery,do the following:
-Get into the recovery mode and go to <Recovery Settings>GUI preferences>Toggle Virtual Keys and disable them, because they don´t work, only the one to go back
-In that same menu, select "Menu Height" and select it up to get number 20, wich is the smallest, perfect for the little screen of the phone.
-Go to /sdcard/clockworkmod/ and create the folder "aromafm" and "custom_res"
-Go to /storage/extSdCard/clockworkmod and create the "custom_res" folder too (ih this carpets you can save pictures in .png files and then use those pictures as the background of the recovery)
-Download Aroma filemanager here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1646108 and place it in /sdcard/clockworkmod/aromafm/ and you will can use Aroma filemanager getting in Advanced Options>Aroma filemanager

Features
-Root Explorer built
-Binaries SuperSu
-Target sdcard
-Choose from check Root on/off
-Save and load the Recovery Settings
-Enter password in the Recovery
-Change colors and background
-Gestures
-Virtual buttons
-Size and sensitivity of menus
-Option "Clean to Install a New ROM"
-Custom option BackUp
-Shows Progress
-And much more

Some piece of advice, touch works only for scrolling, when selecting an option, you will NEED to press the home button.

Nexus 7 2013 in car installation ( noob questions ) please help !

Hello all,

This is actually my first post here and I hope this is the right place to start this thead.
First of all I should say that I have no experience regarding android phone/tablets as I am an iphone user and always have been BUT I start to consider firmly to install nexus 7 2013 3g + wifi tablet in my car (honda civic 2004 1.3 ima hybrid), as an alternative to the boring 2din's available on the market.
I know I know I could go for ipad mini but in my case I believe nexus 7 suits my needs best. I am looking to get and user-friendly interface and customisable (most important) .
For that I started my research on various forums, watched a lot of youtube videos and finally ended here on this forum where I found a lot of interesting materials to work with.
In my case, I am looking to relocate the aftermarket player I have currently installed ( sony gt something ) and install the nexus 7 2013 instead, filling the 2din space in the dash ( will post a picture of my dash on the bottom ).
From what I understood from my research is that people removed completely the car stereo unit and figured out ways to integrate the nexus to do the same things but in my case, i want to make things easier for me as I don't have so much experience in electronics, so I am going to connect the tablet via 3.5mm audio jack to the aftermarket car player's aux input . So if i'll want to listen anything off the tablet, I will switch it to aux mode and if I want radio/cd/ipod I will select that from the source menu.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this should be the list of things I will need for this project :

nexus 7 2013 3g + wifi (obviously)
right angle micro usb adapter ( if the space behind the dash won't allow me to use a regular one)
otg + charging cable
usb port ( 3-4 usb's inputs - usb thumb drive to add stuff such as music, movies, etc and 2 spare ones in case I will ever add a rear parking camera or anything else)
3.5mm audio jack cable male to male ( 1m long) - possibly with right angle on both ends
2 slot usb car charger ( to replace the cigarete lighter cap and to use in the future for charging devices)
2 slot usb car charger ( here I don't know what specs it needs to have, from what I've seen people are using 4.2 A 20W ones, I hope I will find one too) - 2 slots because one will be used to charge the tablet and one I will probably use to charge the dash cam
and last but not the least obd2 bluetooth diagnostic tool to use with the torque app

Am I good so far ?

besides that, I understood I also need timur's kernel ( i'm not really sure what it actually is but from my understanding it allowes otg+charging cables to work properly + some extra stuff) -> where from ? is it free? alternatives?
other that this, I will probably need other apps such as tasker ( for wifi, sleeep mode and others) and ... ?

My main questions is : did I cover everything ? will I need anything else ( fuses, amps etc ? )
Secondly, what about the timur kernel software ? can somebody elaborate please ?

Oh, and I have never rooted an android tablet but I guess it should be the same as jailbreaking an iphone right ?

Sorry for my possible spelling mistakes or android understanding lack of knowledge but I am new here and I want to learn more from the experienced guys and don't mess things up. Thanks !!!

As promissed, picture of the dash(it's actually a picture from google because I don't have one on my pc atm) :
The idea is that I can move the aftermarket car player on the bottom of the dash right under the cigarete lighter and put the nexus above.

VS980 Download Mode error: won't start device installation

I've done a bit on my phone over the past: installed TWRP, rooted, installed some ROMs, and eventually reverted back to stock Lollipop. Somewhere along the way, I lost the ability to use Download Mode properly, which prevents me from doing a number of things: installing root, a bootloader, ROMS, etc.

If I enter download mode, I'll see the following:
Firmware Update
Do not unplug the USB connection until the process is complete
Progress bar here remains at 0% at all times.
Beneath this section is a box that has two lines (first line is grey, second is in red):
VUSER_G2 B69
Modified

Any idea why my download mode is failing to continue? It should be installing the device to my computer at this time, but it just holds steady.

On a possibly related note, I've tried using various root methods (including a 1-click root program), none of which work. Something seems borked with my phone, though it otherwise functions normally.

Please help!

EE UK (EVR) 5.1.1 installation of non-play store apps (unknown sources)

Since the EE Galaxy S6 firmware upgrade to 5.1.1 I have not been able to install (or update) apps from "unknown sources".
I don't use the Play store at all - I use F-Droid - so this means I cannot use F-Droid as a package management tool! :(

The "allow unknown sources" setting still exists and is enabled, but all installs or updates just hang after confirming the requested permissions...

Has anyone else noticed this problem, or might know of a way to rectify this situation?

Thanks

Recommendations
After you flash the recovery, I recommend the following:
-Get into the recovery mode and go to <Recovery Settings>GUI preferences>Toggle Virtual Keys
(Because the only button that works is the one to go back
-In that same menu, select "Menu Height" and select it up to get number 20, wich is the smallest, perfect for the little screen of the phone.

For noobs
If you don´t know what is Aroma filemanager, visit the thread. Is not obligatory to follow the recommendations but I just do it to help all XDA community members and guests that use this little but effective device. If you already have this recovery, follow the recommendations, will be beneficial for you.

E:footer is wrong during installation of stock rom on lenovo a6000 plus

I had rooted lenovo A6000 plus using kingroot. Then i updated the phone (system update). though they gave the warning as your phone is rooted the update might not work but still i updated :( . when the phone restarted there are options for recovery (Android system recovery<3e> kraft-A6000-s_S013_150615). when i update the custom rom (even stock rom) there are two errors 1.E:footer is wrong and
2. E:signature verification failed. then installation got aborted. i have gone through factory reset also tried to install from sd card still no luck.
now how can i install rom or recover. i have no backups though :(.
