What and how do I uninstall unwanted apps?

Hello,

I just bought a Galaxy Tab S and I was wondering if there is any way to remove some of the non-essential apps. My RAM is at 1.87 out of 2.7, and I want to free up as much as I can. I don't really know what apps I need for the tablet to run, but all I will be doing on it is watching and streaming movies and streaming my PC games via Gamestream. Which actually brings me to another question: Can I use my Dualshock 4 controller with Moonlight Game Streaming or do I have to purchase an OTG adapter?

Apps pictures not loading, what to do?

From last few days i have noticed that apps in my samsung galaxy grand 2 like facebook, twitter, instagram n others having problems in loading pictures. Like when i open instagram or twitter it does not load pictures n some of the pictures load very slowly. I thought that after reset factory setting the pictures loading problem will get solved but after resetting(i did it after 10 or 11 months from last reset) my phone, the problem is still there.. i need help to solve this problem n yes clean master is already installed. Please help me..

Full back-up : rooted firmware + data + apps. Possible?

Hello,

I have an issue with the screen that is detaching more and more. So I plan to send it back to Sony SAV.

My phone is rooted and I really want to keep the firmware I am using right now (I do not want to move to Android 5).

I know how to copy my data, applications and so one. But I want a full backup to perform a full restore once it will be exchanged. Is there any way to do a full back-up with the firmware also?

Install android apps using TWRP and your smartphone!

TWRP has a built in file manager, I managed to install an apk using 3 apps and TWRP:
Requirements:
1.)Unlocked bootloader on the Wear device (This voids warranty)
2.)Obviously TWRP on Wear device
3.)A smartphone
4.)An Android Wear device
5.)Chrome on Wear
6.)Superbeam
7.)Es File Explorer on Wear

What I did is used Superbeam on my smartphone to send the apk to the wear device. To do this I disconnected my smartwatch from my smartphone and copied the ip address Superbeam created for the apk into chrome on the Wear device then allowed it to download the apk. Once it had downloaded the apk I used Es File Explorer on Wear to check if it was successful and successful it was. Then I booted the wear device into TWRP and moved/copied the apk into data/app (I used TWRP since Es File Explorer wasnt showing the directory data/app) then I chmoded the apk to 0644 and surprisingly when I rebooted it worked so im gonna try various apps using this method.

Which messaging app's are already supporting RCS?

I wish I could find something like or as popular as whatsapp and as advanced as it that supports sms as well...

I've been hunting and hunting to no avail maybe someone else knows.

I tried Joyn for metroPCS on my T-Mobile Note Edge but it says this device isn't supported.

But I'd really like a messenger/sms app that supports file sharing, video calling and piggy backing message delivery/receiving on wifi as well as the phones own network connection.

I used Titanium backup to clean and remove bloatware from my mother tablet (GT-P5200)...
Model : GT-P5200
Android : 4.4.2
Bande : P5200XXUBNK1

Shame on me, I didn't make backup for some applications like : My Files and Gallery...

And of course, first reaction of my mother was : Oh finally, i prefer "Gallery" to "QuickPic", and I dislike VLC, I prefer "My Files" to access to my videos... Grrrr

I tried to make a backup with Titanium from a Tab 10.1, model GT-P5210, but don't work
I tried to find the two APK on Samsung Store, Internet... but nothing...

On a french forum, users tells me to mount the original stock ROM with an utilitary, and make a copy of the two APK, but actually, I don't find some APK called "Gallery.apk" or "MyFiles.apk" in "/app" tree.

So I make a try here :D
Somebody could make a Titanium backup with "Gallery" and "My Files" and send it to me ? Or a copy of the two missing APK...

[Q] Cannot launch Android apps on emulator

Hi,
I installed apk on my Lumia 830 and it worked perfectly. But recently all apps cannot launch, They are all stuck at "We are setting up", "almost there" and crash.
Anyone knows how to fix this?

How to Customize Sounds in APPs That Doesn't Allow so in their Settings

Hello,

I am trying to customize the sound certain apps makes. Here's my dilemma. Say application X allows you to customize sounds/notifications in the specified application's settings, but application Y does not have that feature. However, if I want to change the sounds for application Y I need to change the entire system notification/sound. Is there anyway to customize/change ONLY application Y's sounds/notifications? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Closing recent apps?

Hi.

Probably a dumb question especially as I should know this after doing a IT course but is closing apps from the recent apps list a badish thing?
WIth windows I'm used to closing apps to free up RAM for other programs but I've recently found out that android doesn't work like this and it's best to keep the apps in the recents list for faster loading etc. While this makes sense and I have obviously noticed that apps will load faster if they're in the recent apps list but does this not have an effect on cpu or battery life?

Just need some clarification as how how android manages it's RAM compared to windows and whether it has a negative effect on performance if you leave apps in the recents list.

Run App(s) from Pin Locked Lockscreen

I want the ability to run specific apps from a pin or pattern locked lockscreen.

I am rooted and running KitKat. I am aware of the "Quick Access (from Lockscreen)" module but from what I understand...it only runs whatever app was currently running over top of the lockscreen. It does NOT give you the ability to run (for example) 2 specific apps and switch between them. I also tried a different approach and used an app locker but the apps I tried locked individual apps so you had to unlock every app which is a huge pain.

Whatever the solution is...I do want to use a pin or pattern lock. Any suggestions out there?

I got the Tmobile Galaxy S3 (T999). Which apps safe safe to freeze and or remove through Titanium Backup or other app?

Getting Themed Apps into Android M

I am certain many of you have taken the plunge into Android M, and I think the latest revision is worthy of daily driver status...

I for one was reticent to stay on it for extended periods, mostly because of the trade-offs involved with the scores of feature rich, mature 5.1.1 roms on the one hand, and the comparatively stock experience inherent with a new operating system...

Then there is the ever-present desire on my part to run themed apps, be they hard coded, or stock variants that can be fully themed with either a theme engine overlay or layer...to me, white UIs should simply be illegal.

But as I have come to use the latest M, I have found it to be a joy to use. This was made certain with the availability of the hard work of Team BlackOut (Bryan, Andrew, Patrick, Kevin) and @daveyannihilation, whom have brought us themable versions of apps I regularly use.

So, with Android M having what seems to be system wide Runtime Resources Overlays (Sony's contribution to Android, RRO), we have a superb slate with which to work.

So with that out of the way, here is my current approach to getting Android M running the way I like...

Hard Coded Themed and Themable Apps

These are always perfect...either perfectly coded or ready for a good theme.

Team BlackOut and Davey Wilson have given us with their latest themable Gapps versions of...

Google Plus
Hangouts
YouTube

Thyrus has provided his flashable add-on for his themes, and these include:

Clock
Calendar
Google Messenger
Hangouts

And Team BlackOut has given us hard coded versions of a plethora of other apps, including Play Music, Play Store, Google App...the list is endless (check the TBO updater app for details).

To get any of these onto your device and running properly, they must remain in the system partition...

So, to attain that, here is what I suggest you do...keeping in mind that this assumes you're running one of the latest preview M builds...

1. Download one or more of the above referenced zips
2. Unzip the file and its contents
3. Now, we're going to be pushing these apps to the existing location on M, and leaving what remains intact...here's where this gets a little less intuitive...

3.1. Straight Apk Swaps...

In this first example, I'm replacing the stock clock with the one from Thyrus...

Using Root Explorer, go to system, app on the left pane, and the location where you unzipped the package from Thyrus on the right...

As you can see, the file names are different, but the packages are interchangeable...so, I moved the stock M version in system to a safe location on my internal memory, renamed the one from Thyrus, pushed it to system, app, set permissions to 0644, and left the Odex subfolder and its contents intact...

And the final outcome...

3.2. Movement of Files with Library Files

In the M version of Google Plus, Hangouts, Google App/Now, YouTube, and a few others have only the apk, whereas the themable version has both...so, to get these to work without crashing on you, you'll need to push both the library files and the apk from the zip (either the themable version or the hard coded one)...

Using Root Explorer, go to system, app in the left pane, and the source zip in the right...

You'll note that the stock Google Plus included in the M Preview has no library files...you'll need to push those to system in order to get the themable version working...again, leaving the oates subdirectory and Odex file alone...

Copy the entire folder labeled "lib" from the themable zip to system, app, PlusOne, then set permissions for the new folders to 0755, and for the library files to 0644...
First, copy the folder, then set folder permissions...hard press on the folder name, and choose "permissions" from the popup list...

Then change folder permissions for both the "lib" and "arm" folders, as below...

That should do it.

Now, Google Plus will look amazing...i personally love the Material Glass theme for this app

As will Hangouts, and so many others...

4. Odds and Ends...
4.1. Tethering, seems to be a hit or miss proposition...no worries, using SQLite, make sure tether provisioning is set to zero...in the latest JDX rom (3.01), it was not...

Open the app, then go to settings storage, settings.db, global, then look for the line that reads "tether_dun_required." It wasn't there for me...so I added it...by hitting the plus sign in the top right...

4.2. 4x1 Reboot Menu, a few quick replacement apps, such as Quick Boot or Power Toggles and you'll have this immediately...

I hope to grow this list, especially as mods get on the grid...I would love to have a volume wake mod, and some others.

One final note...Please BUY premium apps, etc...like Root Explorer, SQLite, and of course, your favorite themes...it is a terrific way to show support to the dev, and it's usually less than you'll spend at Starbucks.

Smartwatch 3 cannot sync apps downloaded on phone.

It's been a month now and since the watch started behaving weirdly after the 5.1.1 update. It could only sync newly downloaded apps or watchfaces when forced to update using 'resync apps' on the android wear companion app. However, just recently it has stopped syncing altogether despite forcing it. Forcing it would only result in android wear losing connection to the watch. I'm currently using a sony xperia z3 with Android lollipop 5.1.1 installed (rooted). Is there anyway I can troubleshoot this? Thanks!

Can I stop my phone automatically installing apps?

Got a no mark S4 clone on 4.2, perfectly happy with it, got CWM and a new rom on it, its fine.
I have exposed and boot manager and once a day it has its icon telling me 'google play services' has auto installed, and every other day an app called 'recents' with a sort of C:\ terminal icon. Now, neither of these I want, I've deleted them so, SO many times, selected 'dont auto update' and also 'dont notify' from within google play, set my firewall to block anything google when on 4g etc...
Is there ANY way to stop it installing stuff I dont need?

Got the T-Mobile variant and coming from Note II.

When I have multiple apps that can open a item, I would get a prompt. With my Note II, I could then specify to open it one time or always.

With my Note5, the prompt doesn't give me that option. I do get the option to select the application. I click the icon and then a get a popup reminding me how to clear the defaults.

But, I didn't want to set that application as the default. I still want to be prompted for selecting the app to open.

Is this new? Any workarounds?

"Ghost" apps on Z1

Hi guys,

I was hoping you could help me on this. After updating to 5.0.2, there have appeared 2 "ghost" apps in the Z1 stock launcher app drawer. In Alphabetical order, these 2 are the 1st to be shown, however, in Own Order, they are separated and are shown like the pics attatched below.
I was thinking of a factory wipe+recovery, but any other suggestion would be appreciated :D

Apps Able To Change "Show Notifications" Setting?

So I can't remember if this used to happen on my stock GS4 since I've been running CM for so long, but on my GS5, certain apps are able to override the "Show notifications" checkbox in Settings/Applications! I feel like I'm going crazy since I'm constantly having to uncheck the notifications box. I've set the apps to not Auto Update to make sure it wasn't part of an app update installation process, but that made no difference.

The main offenders that I have installed on my phone are Plants vs. Zombies 2 and theCHIVE. PVZ2 notifications are sooo annoying when my plants sprout, and then frankly, I only want to Chive on when I choose to. Not gonna buy clothing.

Does anyone else get these issues on the GS5?

I have been rooted for so long I don't know if this has something to do with root permissions being exploited, or it's stupid TouchWiz messing up Android. Any suggestions? It's only happening to PVZ2 and theCHIVE as I'm aware. My other apps retain the unchecked state. This is a security breach in my opinion. Settings shouldn't randomly be undone.

This is very similar to my LastPass app fill settings randomly unsetting after a reboot. Ugh I hate TouchWiz with a passion. My Nexus 7 devices (rooted & stock) do not have this issue with the same apps so I'm pointing my finger at Samsung for the moment.
