Android TV BOX( VMEDIA ) Canada

Hello, i currently have an android box through a tv company in canada called VMEDIA. What i am looking to do is remove all of the company's information and reinstall the latest version of android OS on as if it were a tablet. the reason i want to remove everything is because it is taking up space on the internal memory. I am looking to eventually install SHOWBOX and XBMC on it. I keep running out of space so in order for me to update one or ther other is to actually reset the device and reinstall the latest version which is very annoying. if someone could direct me to the right place to get a full instruction on how to do this i would be greatfull.
There is no model number for the BOX besides VBOX

Bootloop, can't find way out.

I have a Sprint Galaxy Note 3 that is stuck in a bootloop.

Whenever a battery is in, the phone starts up and reboots a couple seconds later, no matter what boot mode it is in. I can't get in to download mode or recovery because of this. Tried a different battery and that didn't solve the problem.

Cracked Screen and Rooted

My screen is cracked on my Galaxy Note Pro 12.1 and it is rooted. I have the Verizon LTE version, but I do not have a data plan. Obviously, I have to pay out of my pocket to fix the screen. Does anyone know if Samsung will replace my screen, if my device is rooted? Thanks for the help.

Brightness issues

I have this weird brightness problem where I have it at 50% and it would randomly dim and brighten like crazy. I tested at 100% brightness and it also dims and brightens. Obviously, I don't have it on auto brightness but it sure acts like it.

Anyone with the same issue? Is it a defect? I just got the phone today and I'm afraid to exchange it to have the same problem again. I really like this phone. There's always a friggin issue on a new phone. It's ridiculous.

Wizards, help an old man with Moto notifications...

People Smarter than Me (anyone in this thread),

I'm looking for some help...I have a Moto360 paid with a WORK S5 that is SEVERELY crippled. Can't install anything not on the company white-list (and there ain't much on there). So, out of the gate, no Moto Connect. (BTW, if someone knows a way around THAT, there's in it for you...)

Anyways, I have a GearFit, and I guess because it's Sammy, it's baked in. So, on the Fit, I get ALL notifications (SMS, email, At Bat, KNOX, etc). Even when there is a sent item from, Knox, I get the notification (a buzz on the wrist and an on screen notification). I like that.

Enter the Moto. I get a buzz on calls and SMS, but I get nothing from Knox (which is severely delayed), nothing from At Bat, etc. The cards are there, but nothing to alert me I have new notifications without looking. Most times I keep the phone on vibrate, but some apps vibrate (SMS) some don't (At Bat, Knox). I can't find a setting anywhere to make all notifications alert. I can see where to BLOCK them, but that's it. Am I missing it? The point of me getting a wrist wearable was to not miss stuff on the device, even when I don't have it physically on me. The Fit handles it, but I would like to get the Moto there.

Any ideas??

Camera being...odd

So everyone once in a while when I use my camera now that its on the PR rom, it makes a weird noise and vibrates. Anyone else have this issue?

How to flash d2spr Lollipop Roms on the d2lterefreshspr (SPH-L710T Tri-Band Model)

1st let me just say I'm not a developer at all just someone who enjoys custom roms as much as everyone else here! I'm not very good at explaining things so please try to bear with me and try to understand this the best you can! If any real developers read this please help us by adding support for our device and if any developers can explain this better please do so! For anyone with the d2lterefreshspr (SPH-L710T Tri-Band) wanting to flash almost any Lollipop Roms made for the d2spr you can flash them! You might 1st have to unzip the rom and go to the updater-script and delete the 1st part where it checks the recoveries build to see if your device is the d2spr or the d2lte and so on. Then repack the rom back into a zip file the flash it in recovery as you normally would. Then once the Rom boots you won't have a baseband or service or anything but I will tell you why and how to fix this. The d2spr's modem-image file are labeled different from our modem! At the bottom of this I will show you the list of each modems links so you can see which 1s are different and what you have to delete and resymlink to get the Rom to reconize your baseband and get your service working! But using a file manager with root access navigate to the files in "/system/etc/firmware/ " and delete the wrongly symlinked modem-images! Once you have done that navigate to "/firmware-mdm/images/" folder and start symlinking the correct files to "/system/etc/firmware/" folder. After this you might want to modify the buid.prop and change all parts that say d2spr to d2lterefreshspr but only if you want. Once you have done this reboot to recovery and flash the Lte apn fix zip then reboot. Now everything should work with service and everything! I have tried this on the latest SlimLP 5.1.1. Beta and A..I.C.P. Lollipop and a few other Lollipop Roms for the d2spr. If you would like to download some of the Roms I have modified the updater-scripts so they will flash on our device and the APN zip I flash with a flashable build.prop I have already modified just send me a message and I will send you a link to my drive account. I'm trying to create a zip we can flash in recovery that will delete the wrong symilinked files and symlink the correct files to help save us the trouble of this process and for people that don't know how to create a symlink file! But as I stated I'm not a developer so I might be able to but if any developers that could help us by creating 1 for us please please feel free to do so and let us know! But take a look at the 2 lists of symlinked files and delete the necessary files and create the new symlinks that our device needs! If the files show the correct symlinks on 1st boot but you still don't have service click on the symlinks and view its details and you will see it'ssymlinked to the wrong files. Just delete all symlinks and create the correct new 1s.

Example of the d2spr modem symlinked images are:
symlink("/firmware-mdm/image/dsps.b00", "/system/etc/firmware/dsps.b00");
symlink("/firmware-mdm/image/dsps.b01", "/system/etc/firmware/dsps.b01");

Facebook Messenger crashing

Hey guys,

I settled on the "LENOVO_K3_LOLLIPOP_5.1_1529-DEV_ROW_v1.7_CUOCO92" ROM from the INDEX thread for now as it seems the most stable and complete. I have used OTA to update it to their v1.9 now which is their latest OTA.

Even tho with the 1.9 Facebook Messenger is hard crashing. I tried every trick known to the world it still doesn't work,

Any idea?

Google Fit

I disabled google fit from menu.
But in battery logs i see that 3% google fit yse.
How to disable it fully and ehy is still uses battery?

Is external battery charging possible?

I landed an LS980 into QHSUSB_bulk mode. While I was transferring the replacement partitions over it appears the battery ran dry. It no longers will charge at all, but will show up in Linux complaining about not enough power to full power on (ehci error -110?).

I would like to know if there's a way to charge the battery some other way, or if anyone has any other ideas. Surely I'm missing something obvious here.

Thanks!

[ROM][2015.07.31]CM7 with Stagefright vulnerability patched[CM7][CDMA]

I still get good use out of my HTC Incredible running CM7, but old as it is, it will receive no patches for the recent publicized Stagefright vulnerability. To protect my device and home network, I rebuilt CM7 for the Incredible with the following patches included:

https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andro...a557d0a60bf252
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andro...38ad940b9d88d6
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andro...4da58b5dfd4bf7

(I didn't include the other three:

https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andro...546fc6b4813f09
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andro...081619f7d44cc5
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andro...3654b1bee73da1

because those three fix memory problems in code that was added to libstagefright in versions of Android later than Gingerbread.)

Network Issues after upgrading to 23.4.A.0.546

Just as the title says. After updating to 5.1.1 I noticed that I'm getting a terrible network signal anywhere I go unless I'm directly outside.
I could be inside a building near a window and my network will be 1 bar or even less sometimes.

Is there anyone else experiencing this? Is there any way to fix this?
I flashed the Greece version and then updated with my local baseband and kernel etc.

Thanks.

Failed atempt at entering Fastboot

Hello guys. I've recently got a Z3C and I wanted to flash a custom recovery on it so I can install another rom. I've unlocked my bootloader, no issues there, but when I powered down my phone and pressed volume up and connected it to the pc, it started installing some drivers and power went out. Now my phone is pretty much dead, I can't get into fastboot, nor flashmode. I reinstalled pc companion and the Z3C drivers from flashtool but nothing happens. When I connect my phone, in device manager this is all I get " Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008"

Is there anything I can do with it? Or is it just a pretty looking paperweight now?

Galaxy s6 edge display issue

My Galaxy s6 edge has a weird display issue. Whenever I watch a video that involves a night time scene or a very dark scene there are blotches of black. It makes the video look 8 bit or like watercolor. its especially noticeable when I watch it in a dark room at night with no lights on. There's weird distortion effect. i was wondering if I have a defective display or not.

Android encryption not encrypting file- and foldernames

I have tested Android Lollipop 5.0 phone encryption lately. It has LGsG3 stock firmware and is rooted.
I encrypted the internal memory and then the external sdcard with androids build in phone encryption option.
Thought I'd rather check if the sdcard is really encrypted afterwards and put it into my PC to see it's content.. and then:

ALL the File- and Foldernames are still visible! Every single Filename and Folder. Android Encryption encrypts ONLY the content of the Files, but not it's filenames or folders. So while not having the option to see the Content of the files, we can still see the names describing the content.
I don't need to say that one should think of these as metadata which in many cases tells you alsmost everything about it's content.

I'm kinda upset that my phone makes me believe my data on the phone is secured through encryption but in fact it is not. At least not enough to call it real "encryption".

searching google about this topic makes me think I'm the only person on this planet who has discovered the glitch.

Anyone knows more about this? Anyone with encrypted Android phone discovered the same on their SDcard?
How comes filenames are not encrypted together with the content? Why is the user not informed about this before he starts encrypting the phone, expecting *everything* will be encrypted?
When encrypting the SDCard of the phone I expected something like: the whole partition will be encrypted and mounted on boot like FDE on PC. Instead it's all about fake encryption.

G2 Overheating - Fix for it? (D800)

I got a G2 from Ebay a few months ago (4 to be exact) and from then and now I've not done much but than install a few custom ROMs (2) and restore to KDZ (3). All that time I've been getting Overheating issues. I am almost 96% sure that it is not a frankenphone but I feel something is up with this phone.

When I first got it. I used the phone for a few weeks on stock (it was on Jellybean shipped). Then KDZ upgraded to KitKat (no sim, full wipe). Still nothing, no overheating.

Then I finally decided to get a ROM going. I rooted with TowelRoot and installed recovery with AutoRec. Then upgraded TWRP to support lollipop ROMs (Blastagator's Thermal TWRP).

Now after all of that I successfully installed my first ROM of choice - Blisspop. It ran like a dream. But this is where the overheating started.

I constantly got 40C+ and above. I did nothing about it. Got sick of it, and installed another ROM (Cloudy 2.2). Of course it installed successfully. Nothing wrong. Still overheated like mad.

Used Cloudy for a few weeks and finally decided to back everything up and restore via KDZ (back to KK). After that. Overheating still occured although it was a little better than I expected... I wondered what was going on. By then it was a month and the Ebay seller said I was Out of Luck. Now I decided to install Resurrection Remix 5.1. It seemed to fix some overheating issues but they were still severe-ish.

Decided to restore via KDZ again (KK again) still nothing. After that I installed everything I needed and installed a Stock Lollipop Stripped Down ROM, I've heard bad things about LG's Stock Lollipop (including overheating) so I'm not surprised that this thing is overheating in this state. I am now stuck here. Wondering what the hell I need to do to get this thing back to it's former glory.

Look at my location. I live in Nevada. I know that High Temps here aren't good for this phone and that might be the problem. But this phone is hardly used anywhere without AC (Car, Home, Job, Banks, Buildings, ect) and both are really cool compared to outside's 100+F/37C heat. So that can't be a factor.

I'm wondering if I can return this thing back to LG/AT&T if they still allow them to be repaired. My seller gave some info like S/N and original purchase date. But I'd rather not do that. Also, if I'm Out of Luck on warranty. How much would it cost to pay LG for it to be fixed? Just wondering. But I would rather fix it on my own that to wait a few weeks without a phone.

TL;DR: Bought phone, upgraded from JB to KK. Rooted and installed recovery, flashed a ROM. Overheated. KDZ'd back, overheated. more rom installing ect, ect. still overheating. Wondering what I need to do to restore this thing.

Iocean X1 internal memory increase

hello guys, I use Iocean X1 for a while and I have a problem with the lack of memory for the app, and I'm tired to move applications on SD card
I have 1 GB of internal memory and 5.28 GB Phone memory, and my question is whether there is a way to increase the internal memory by reducing the phone memory?
Thanks in advance.
Sorry for my bad english.

Problem with External Storage

I'm having problems with my external storage (sdcard1). It was working fine unrooted, but now that I'm rooted I'm unable to use it. Depending upon which path I follow (using ES Explorer in root mode), I get the message "file.txt cannot be deleted" or "read-only file system". I have no problems writing to the card in Linux or Windows.

For troubleshooting, I try to create a Folder and then a File. I previously added a test folder and test file via Windows Explorer.
Path selected via ES Explorer: /storage/sdcard1/
  1. Try to add folder, received error message: The folder(file) will not be created. Sorry operation failed.

  2. Try to delete test file(folder), receive error message: test1.txt cannot be deleted.

Path selected via ES Explorer: /storage/removable/sdcard1 ('sdcard1' in /storage/removable/ symlinks to /storage/sdcard1/)
  1. Try to add folder received error message: The folder(file) will not be created. Sorry operation failed.

  2. Try to delete test file(folder, receive error message: read-only filesystem

Also, in adb shell, trying to create or delete a file results in 'rm: Test1: Read-only file system' error message. However, mount shows it is a rw filesystem.

As a novice, it looks like the wrong group is assigned to the sdcard1, compared to the permissions of platform.xml. For example, a complete directory listing of /storage/sdcard1/ shows the group owner to be sdcard_r. While platform.xml lists that group under anything with "EXTERNAL_STORAGE" in the name, it is missing from "WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE". I suppose I could add that group and see if it fixes things, but the whole "ro filesystem" message has me wondering.

I've included what I think is the relevant code. Just to rule it out, this is a brand new SD card. I replaced my last one because I thought there was a problem with it writing. Can someone help me figure this out? Thanks.

File share

Could someone help me out with getting smart screen working on the G4? I need the entire wise screen folder from priv-app. If someone could zip it and link me that would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Only posting because I couldn't find any answers elsewhere...

My issue is a complicated one, I think.

Two days ago, I dropped my phone, and the screen was absolutely destroyed. The touchscreen and the display are still working fine, but the glass front is completely annihilated. :/ I sent a request to Motorola to get it repaired, and wanted to reflash the stock 5.0 system image. (I happen to be stupid and didn't make a nandriod of stock) I've done this before, in order to update to 5.1, so I have the files required to do so. This is where I started running into problems.

It more or less successfully flashed the image, with the output below:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot reboot
rebooting...

Upon rebooting to insure that everything worked correctly, I was greeted with the dreaded: "Unfortunately, Phone has stopped". Alright, not the worst thing in the world, if anything I can just reflash TWRP and restore the nandroid I had made before hand. I tap "Ok", but only to have "Unfortunately, Nfc Service has stopped" come up immediately afterward. I keep tapping "Ok", but the dialog fail to cease long enough for me to even interact with the phone; therein lies the issue. I can't access settings to enable USB debugging. I boot my phone into fastboot and attempt to flash TWRP, but of course I can't. Now I'm starting to panic and rampantly search Google for the answer. No luck, best I can find is if I could access the setting. The only thing that I could think of doing next is to find someway to use adb side-load, or disable those damned dialogs. I can access storage, and the device's boot-loader is unlocked.

tl;dr: Can't access settings, unlocked boot-loader, stock android stuck at setup screen. Trying to find a way to install TWRP custom recovery.

Please give me some advice!

Sony Xperia M5 And C5 Ultra Leak

Looks like the most reliable leak about the upgrade to Zultra with a very very thin bezel.
By the looks of it, it may be available pretty soon as well..

The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra has a huge 6-inch 1080p screen and a virtually non-existent side frame. This is just 0.8mm thin, this compares to a 2.2mm thin side frame in the Xperia C4 and 2.5mm thin frame in the Xperia T2 Ultra. These small bezels mean that that the Xperia C5 Ultra is barely much bigger than the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.

I dont know much about the processor but sounds disappointing - http://www.mediatek.com/en/products/...phone1/mt6752/

( Just opened a new thread since all the other news in the past were just speculations )

The XperiaC5 Ultra will probably get more attention than the M5. It's a big 6-inch phone with a 1080p LCD. The bezel on the left and right of the screen is just 0.8mm wide, which looks neat. Unfortunately, that's the most interesting thing about the design. It's otherwise a very typical Sony device. Inside you get 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 chipset. It'll cost the equivalent of 0.

Tether Unlimited to Chromebook?

Hello, I have an LG Leon LTE on MetroPCS. I'm able to tether to my Windows PC via using PDAnet software, however, anyone have a method to tether unlimited to Chromebook? PDAnet isn't built for Chromebook so I'm out of options. There isn't any block screen when I try to tether, it just goes slow as hell, about 0.10 mpbs. I tried setting up a VPN / UserAgent changes on the Chromebook but it still goes 0.10 mbps.

[WIP] Enable Smart Screen

This is a work in progress for enabling smart screen!!

I've only tested this on the H811 so far. I know there aren't too many with an unlocked bootloader so please try at your own risk.

So far I have smart screen enabled under settings. You can check and uncheck it to activate. The issue I'm running into is it doesn't actually keep.the screen on. You'll get the face detecting notification in the status bar but the screen still times out. I would like any help in this if anyone has any to offer. I've tried installing the wise screen apk from the VZW G4, but I get force closes. This one is from my Gpad 7.0 and I don't know for sure if it's the reason it doesn't work even though it installs and doesn't fc. My gpad is still on kitkat so there are no associated libs. I'm in the process of requesting the files from a G3 running LP to see if it makes a difference.. Just waiting on someone to send them.

So for now this is what I have..
Install the wise screen apk into system/priv-app and set permissions rw-r-r

Move lge framework-res to the system before moving it to the framework folder to avoid any fc issues. Set permissions rw-r-r before moving into system/framework/lge framework-res.

After doing so reboot

Upon reboot go to system/settings/display and scroll almost all the way to the bottom check smart screen. Test it out and rack your brain, let's see if we can get this fully functional.

How to create an app from game build in C

Hello everybody! This is my first post on xda forum, community that i'm following from the very first steps with my old LG P500 (optimus one). The reason why I'm posting this thread is to ask to all of you developers or to those who know programming more than me if:

it is possible to build an app for android from a game build in C or am i talking about sci-fi? Let me explain better.....when i was young I use to play with games build in C that worked on windows; e.g. one of them have a folder (characters folders) with files like these

File ACT
File AIR
Command script
File CNS, DEF e SFF

Do you know any way to make it? Ha ve you ever done it before? As I'm writing I found two sources (yea i'm multitasking XD) : Android NDK and Xamarin. These could solve my doubts? Thanks to all of you.

Build error for cm12.1 nightly

Hi everyone!
I am attempting to build cm 12.1 bacon on my ubuntu 14.04 LTS x64.
I have followed the environment setup instructions: (wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Build_for_bacon and source.android.com/source/initializing.html)
I also have exported BUILD_HOST_32bt=1

When building, I am confronted with the following error:

Code:

make: *** No rule to make target `libqmi', needed by `/p/cyanogen/android/system/out/target/product/bacon/obj/EXECUTABLES/wpa_supplicant_intermediates/config.o'.  Stop.
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....

I have not found any help regarding this issue.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Wifi tethering keeps giving no internet access until restart

I connect to the internet on both my laptop and my other phone via my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" by wifi tethering.

Sometimes the internet works for a while and then i get that yellow exclamation mark on the wifi signal bars at the bottom right corner of my laptop screen (i am running windows 8. Same when i was running windows 7). Hover the mouse over it and it says "no internet access". So in order to get internet access to come back, i have to restart the Tab. As soon as i restart it, internet access comes back like normal. A min later, same thing happens. Internet access goes. Sometimes it goes within secs of restarting the Tab and tethering! sometimes a few minutes, sometimes hours...its just random like that. Nothing that i am doing/ru nning in spesific to cause this to happen either. It just randomly decides to go. Some days are good and some arent.

2 things are for sure...1) its not the laptop cz as soon as it goes on it, whatever other devices that are connected to the tab's interent also lose internet access. The connection never breaks though. Just the internet access. 2) Restarting the Tab immedietely fixes the ptoblem...although sometimes just temporarily.

The internet on the Tab itself works fine at all times.

Any ideas what is going on and how to fix it?

2nd user authentication error!

Hi All,

I have the wi-fi only Z4 Tablet and my wife uses it with a second user account however she is constantly asked to Authenticate and then taken to a Google login screen.

Once the email details are correctly inputted it accepts it in Google but the authentication app fails so becomes unusable which is a joke.

Is this an Android think or Sony feature?

Some screenshots attached and thanks in advance.

I just bought the s6 edge for Verizon and rooted with ping-pong. How can I get twrp on it to flash roms? And do you expect the ROM dev community to step up once more people get the phone? Or would you switch to another flagship?

Rooted D6653 Stock 5.1.1 successfully. (long method)

:silly: (I had a TA backup of 5.0.2 stock rom before proceeding, and supersu 2.49 beta.zip).
followed steps like:
1. I updated My Z3 to 5.1.1
2. then unlocked my bootloader
3. flashed cm12.1 boot.img
4. booted into cwm recovery using cm12.1 boot.img
5. flashed supersu 2.49 beta.zip
6. reflashed the 5.1.1 kernel back using stock 5.1.1 ftf and flashtool ( only kernel dont reflash system!!!!!!!!! )
7. successfully booted into rooted stock rom.

FROM HERE BOOTLOADER LOCK WITH TA PARTITION BEGINS

8. run backup TA and restore previous TA Backup of 5.0.2 and reboot the phone( usb debugging must be enabled).
9. Now the phone is a locked bootloader with TA installed of 5.0.2 (partially compatible kernel but locked bootloader with TA and DRM keys)
10. reflash the 5.1.1 kernel back using stock 5.1.1 ftf and flashtool. ( only kernel dont reflash system!!!!!!!!! )
11. yipee.. you got a rooted 5.1.1 stock rom with locked bootloader.
You then can install XZ Dual recovery and can reflash supersu beta 2.49.zip if you face problem in mounting system R/w.
Finally Done. :laugh::laugh:

If you didnt had TA backup and are on locked bootloader then you can revert back to 5.0.2 , root it using kingroot, backup TA and then follow steps from post.
