Wifi tethering option not available in hTC One M8

Hello everyone,
I have a hTC m8 (Harman Kardon edition) gifted by my client from USA. When I received the device, it was factory locked through Sprint Mobile. After a month of research on internet and on this forum, I have unlocked it to use GSM services in India, and its working fine now.

But now the problem is it does not have the Tethering option. I want to tether my M8's internet connection with other devices but it has no option to enable WiFi tethering or anything. I have also tried a few third party tethering app from play store like(FoxFi, Wifi Tether, etc..) but had no luck. They all failed to establish a connection.

I am new to this forum, so am not allowed to post screenshot or any external link.
Please help me, how can I enable the tethering or internet sharing option on my device.

Tmobile tethering (was working) Galaxy S5 PLEASE HELP

I have a problem guys. I have had the Rom Xtrestolite 1.3.5a on my G900T with baseband BNG4. I have been able to tether my phone for over a year with no restrictions and never throttled on my unlimited plan with 5gb hotspot. I used to always check and my hotspot allotment never used to go up as my rooted phone on this rom had the tethering unblocked. However just this week I got a message that said I have reached 85% of my hotspot limit and that it will be slowed to 128kbps but that my phone will continue at high speed till beginning of my next cycle. I checked my usage and now my tethering plan had used up 7/7gb (I guess my hotspot plan had increased to 7gb over the course of the year, never knew since I had always used over 20gb of tethering unrestricted).

So now I am puzzled, did tmobile find a way to meter my tethering again even though I am on a rooted phone on a rom that had unrestricted tethering? Note that I still can tether unlimited but they have slowed it to 128kpbs... the funny thing is I can speed test on speedtest.com on my tether and it will show it at 25mpbs...but if I go on some websites its clearly 128kpbs as I tried a speed test html5 and it confirmed that it was 128kpbs...so it seems some websites like speedtest...and youtube still go fast, but most other streaming sites go slow on tether, so it is obviously being throttled. My question is, has tmobile implemented a new way to meter which made my 1 year old rom not be able to keep making unrestrictive? And if so does anyone know which newer rom is unrestricted and completely uses only my phone's internet not Hotspot Data allotment?

wifi tether with out root or a tethering plan

The first thing you need is your MSL code from Sprint/your service provider . You can do this by simply calling the Sprint customer service/your providers customer service and ask for the MSL code after saying an alibi like slow connection. You can also use any MSL utility app that is working on your device.
Now open the dialer and enter ##DATA# (##3282#)
Click on the Edit button in the popup and enter your MSL code and click OK.
Now navigate to APN settings from the Mobile Networks menu and open APN2 EHRPD Internet and APN2 LTE internet individually and change APN Type to default,mms,dun.
Save the settings in both the APN configurations and reboot the device.


I CAN CONFIRM THIS WORKED ON SPRINT NOTE 5 MAY WORK ON OTHERS

Straight Talk Tethering, rooted phone

Just trying to use my rooted ST note 3 for a hotspot for my little tab4 tablet. Ran the file programs but only have 2 lines with tethering info and both are set to '0'. Neither one is the providers check gateway? Line. Just a tethering provision line and a tethering automation line. When I turn on my hotspot it just runs 'verifying' and never goes anywhere. Even tried to turn it on and check files while its accessing but still only two lines at '0' show. Thanks for reading this.

Are ALL Sprint 64GB Note 5's missing Tethering Setting?

Bought my note 5 yesterday and my hotspot and tethering settings are non existant in my settings menu. Is everyone else with this device on Sprint experiencing the same thing?

Will the Moto X allow unlimited native tethering out of the box?

I have a few buddies who have the One Plus One and claim to have unlimited native tether without tripping any kind of notice to their mobile provider.

Will the Moto X Pure Edition have the ability to do this? Or will it have to be rooted for this to happen? I currently use the Wifi Tether Router app on a Rooted S6 Edge and it works great.

SM-N900V Note 3 with Lollipop 5.0, rootable?, need tethering!

I just got this phone used and of course it has been updated. :eek:
So basically if it is anything like the rest of verizon's locked bootloader crap, unrootable. But I haven't followed this phone so I don't know if that is actually the case..

All I really want is unlimited tethering. :good:

Tethering Internet Connection

Hi,

I have very bad WIFI signal in my room and my computer is connected via cable to router at 1 Gb/s connection so no problem. The problem is when I try to use my devices in my room that I have very slow speeds on WIFI so I was wondering if I can connect my Lumia 435 to the PC and the Lumia take the computer internet connection and make a hotspot for other devices. It's called reverse tethering but I don't know how to setup this type of connection beetween my PC and Lumia 435 with Windows Phone 8.1

Root and Tethering Question

I'm about to make the move to the S5 from my HTC One (M7). Before I make that investment, I want to make sure I'm not going to be screwed out of tethering. I have an unlimited data plan with Verizon, and live in a rural area, so my phone is my home ISP.

Since I would be buying a phone from an eBay vendor, I have no control over which firmware version would come installed. So here's my questions.

1. Are there any firmware versions for which root is not available? I've looked through various threads, and haven't found a concrete answer on this.

2. If there are firmware versions for which root is unavailable, and I'm unfortunate enough to purchase a phone which comes with that firmware version, does the latest version of FoxFi support the latest OTA firmware?

Tethering wifi Huawei P8

Hi guys, I can't use the P8 as a modem wifi .... I have telecom as operator and works perfectly with HTC M8.
I think it's something that has to do with the phone. Some of you we managed to share the connection?

Tethering - not with 4G enabled

Sorry if this has been raised before but if my phone mobile connection is set to include LTE (4G), it won't allow me to tether (my laptop) and use it as a mobile hotspot. I have to turn off 4G and it then connects. Is this normal or a fault?

Wifi Tethering

I have a rooted AT&T G4 that was unlocked and currently being used on T-Mobile. However I can not turn on wifi hotspot. It fails on authentication. I remember on older phones had to disable some APK files, wondering if it still the case.

Metro PCS how to unrestrict tethering?

Hello! First thanks in advance for taking the time to look at this post! Brand new android user here, please realize that i know NONE of the phone lingo, i have no idea what i'm doing, if you decide to help please explain any and ALL steps required. I hear it's possible to bypass the Metro PCS tethering cap of 6GB included in the unlimited data plan(60$) and use the phone's data instead, would someone please do me the favor of telling me how? :)

Tethering Question

I own a G870A and it is on 5.0 OF3 so there is no option of rooting for me atm. As for my question let me try and describe the situation first. I have a tablet mounted in my car and used for a stereo. I want to be able to use my tether whenever I am in the car. My at&t plan allows tethering and i can tether from my settings no problem. My question is why do none of the tether apps i download work when it comes to enabling thethering. Can I use tasker to auto enable it if all else fails? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Authentication error with WiFi tethering abroad

I am unlocked and I am on mobile share plan that allows tethering. I have no problem tethering in the US with my ATT SIM card.

However, when I use another SIM card (for data in europe), I get an authentication error when trying to activate the hotspot.

If I put the same SIM into my galaxy S4, have no problem activating the hotspot and tethering.

Any idea what's going on?

Strange tethering "timeout" problem

Hi,
I have modded photon q with a wind sim card (italy), carbon kk nightly installed (but got same problem with Full ICS ROM).
I'v configured wifi tethering to connect my win7 pc using the photon but:
- after few minutes connection stops working, ping (from win7 to google) gets veeeery slow then timeout, win7 looses connection to internet due to "gateway problem". If I fix it with win tool it works for some more minutes then it happens again!

I'v tried another phone, old samsung chat with android 4.1, no root and default tether, same operator, same APN, configuration is the same (IP, gateway and dns), signal strenght is the same also:
-with this phone it works FINE, no timeout, and high speed too!!

I'v tried 3rd party app like "wifi tether" but it wont work.
On photon I'v tried USB tethering and seems to work, don't get timeout...

Any ideas?
How can I get it to work?
Should I try another rom?

Verizon S3 native Wifi tethering without mobile data

I'd like to use the native Wifi tethering on a rooted, stock ROM Verizon S3 WITHOUT the need for any mobile data. I'll be using it only to allow connected devices to access content that's already on the phone. It's a custom application not for any sort of public distribution. This isn't a problem on AT&T S3s (or other phones), I've done that successfully, the phone just lets it happen. But the Verizon phone won't let me do it--without a plan that includes tethering the phone shuts down the hotspot after a few seconds with the "you need to go buy a tethering plan" dialog. I'd like to use native tethering instead of another app if possible to keep my code simple and uniform across phone models, and avoid a dependency on non-free third party apps.

Anyone have an idea how I can convince the phone to leave a native non-mobile-connected hotspot up, without a tethering plan?

WiFi tethering isn't turning on

Please help me I am not able to turn WiFi hotspot on of my phone Samsung galaxy s duos 7562. When I try to turn it on it shows error. Any solution regarding this issue will be very helpful for me.
