question about running samsung security updates

My phone is only rooted, I have ignored the security updates since I got it thinking I might loose my root. Is this the case or will it still be rooted and do I need these updates anyway? Also, anyone know of a good rom for the att version that wont kill the battery and has a better camera than the stock one. I sure miss my s3 camera app that was in one of the carbon roms I had on it it was awesome. btw the phone was towel rooted.

Why isn't fingerprint security working!

Fingerprint print security in Paypal doesn't work on most of the roms I've tried. I get a "Fingerprint bind failure" error.
The one meaningful thing a fingerprint scanner is good for on a phone and it doesn't work, I can't be the only one who has noticed this so where is all the discussion about it, I have found zero meaningful discussion about it and the canned answers out there don't count as meaningful either.

I have successfully configured fingerprint security in Paypal with The Sickness stock deodexed OB1 and I am assuming this is because it's running the stock kernel with the least amount of tampering.

I haven't got it working on Omega rom with the Omega kernel,
I haven't got it working on our 5.1.1 roms with ShinySide kernel's.

I guess I am really curious to hear who else is using fingerprint security with paypal and what rom/kernel you are running.

Security flaw

I have the fingerprint scan enabled in the lockscreen. I realized that to bypass that, all you have to do is press the home button twice to the camera mode, from there just hit the home button again and it takes you to your homescreen. That is a huge flaw that I cannot understand why it has not been addressed.

Security fixes for 5.0.1 rooted device

Hi all. I am wondering if there is a fix out there for the stagefright vulnerabilities for an Active that is already rooted? In another thread, not even sure if it was in an XDA forum or I saw it elsewhere, there were patches for S5 and S6 devices.

Thanks

[Q] Using Captivate as WIFI Ip security camera help needed

Hello XDA friends,
I have two captivate phones I want re-purpose to use as wifi security cameras using IP Webcam I have them fully setup and working with the app, but they seem to overheat and shut down after an hour or so. I also have two Galaxy 2 Skyrocket phones that I have done the same thing with them. They had the same problem with overheating, but I found this post which led me to remove the battery and solder power cord directly to the battery terminals of the phone. My understanding is that the constant recharging of the battery and the power needed to run the phone is causing the overheating, so by removing the battery and eliminating the charging to the battery equals less heat. That has worked for about two months , still working. I tried this with the captivate phones but for a reason I don't know the phones won't boot up without the battery even with power directly to the battery terminals of the phone. I have removed the back of the phone but I am unable to see where I might connect directly to power the phone without the battery. I'm hoping there are are some users on XDA that might have the technical knowledge to help me either with the overheating or the direct power connection. I appreciate any help. Thank you.
Sean

Script/command for to invoke security menu

Guys, I need your help. The screen on my Moto X 2014 is broken at the top and I can't call the security settings to enable root options. I would like to know if there's a script that can create for just evoke the security options. I can check my e-mail, so I had the idea of sending a script to my email and clicking security options would be available. There is such a possibility? Thank you for all.

Samsung email with exchange security disabled

Hi devs,

I need email with exchange security disabled

As far as I have looked for, there is no available solution: Wanam module requires xposed, which is not yet available for our S6 64 bits architecture, Alliance fwk announces the feature but it is not active,

So I decided to implement the solution based on the tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...email-t3129898

I can't get the app working on the phone (it crashes). I suspect that zipalign is doing 32 bits alignment whereas the S6 is 64 bits. I found no indications on Android dev site...

So can anyone help me to get S6 app recompiled and working correctly on the device.

I know that exchange security bypass is an expected feature, so I would try helping to get it quickly

Olivier

Can't use any lockscreen security! Keeps calling 911!!

Anyone else having problems accidentally calling 911 from your lock screen? I have seen several posts online about Samsung phones & people having problems with dialing 911 from their lock screen. I have been using swipe for my lock screen & with that there is no emergency icon. Well I just started using my finger print scanner as my security & when u enable that, (or any other security) it puts a emergency icon on the bottom right corner that you can swipe up to call 911 & since I have started using this at 12am I have pocket dialed 911 twice! Every other security on the stock lock screen has the same thing! Is there any way to disable this? There's nothing in the lock screen ootions! I want to be able to use my finger print scanner without calling 911! I can't believe it's so easy for my locked phone in my pocket to call 911! Is there any advanced users that could look through SQ editor & see if maybe there's something in there that could disable it? I am rooted on Sprint Kk stock. I don't really want to use another lock screen unless I have no other options but seeing how almost anything in our phones can be deleted, changed, added, edited, revamped ect by the geniuses today, I hope someone is able to figure this out.

Security Screek Lock error onePLUS One

I've been trying to set up my password on the Lock Screen but it fails using the following process:
- Choose Screen Lock
- Password
- Try to set password
ERROR MESSAGE:
"Because you've turned on an accessibility service, your device won't use your screen lock to enhance data encryption."
I'm not sure what accessibility service I may have turned on that is causing this error.

Suggestions?

Custom security fixes

I have Z1C with stock firmware 14.3.A.757. It's rooted. I like it battery usage and don't want to upgrade to Lollipop, because it drains battery. But I know, that Android 4.4.2 has some vulnerabilities, so I would like to fix them "manually". Is there a way to apply a liitle patch for it like hotfixes in Windows?

Android bug: security risk

Android bug: MMS attack affects 'one billion' phones - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-33689399

Can the patch be manually downloaded from somewhere and manually installed in rooted phones? Where?

Prefer to not go the OTA route because I am rooted and use xposed framework.

"checking device status" & "security notice" Problem/bug

Hey guys,
I use a De-Odexed Custom ROM for my Galaxy S5 [Android 5.0].
since then I have two notifications on the "swipe down menu"

First is: "checking device status... please wait"
- can't tap on it
- can't delete the notification,
- can only kill the task "Samsung DM Service" , then the notification disappeared. But moments later the notification came back
- can't disable "Samsung DM Service"

second is: "security notice"
- if I tap on it, device is rebooting in Recovery-mode
- The notification is run by "SecurityLogAgent" (can't delete/disable SecurityLogAgent)

So here you can see a screenshot from the notifications on my phone:
