Canvas A1 Not Upgrading

I have a canvas A1. I rooted it via kingroot and uninstalled system apps such as movies, books et-cectra. Now micromax launched an OTA which when I try to install it says unexpected content in system\apps\books (status 7) and there is some error with E: error @recovery"something-something"\block.map Now can someone tell me what should I do as I am not able to upgrade. I have tried putting system apps back to their places but it doesn't seems to work.
Thanks In Advance:)

Downgrading and Upgrading questions

Hello XDA.
I've got the LG G3 D855 and I got it with android 4.4.2 and than I upgraded it to lollipop (right now I'm with v20H) and I knew that the device is capable with 4G so I talked with my carrier and I finally had the 4G enabled on my phone.
But I suddenly faced the bugs of lollipop and I decided to downgrade back to 4.4.2, it was alright but the 4G capability dissapeared of anything even in the menu there was no option for LTE :( so I upgrade back for lollipop again and it was ok and I got my 4G back :good:
So my question is why did it happened ? and I want to know what to do if i'll downgrade back again and still have the 4G enabled and not lose it.
Thank you.

(HELP) upgrading of os from 4.2.2 to 5.0.1

Am new to flashing of stock firmware on Samsung and have been finding it hard to download 4.3 OS from Samsung updates due to premium account and I can't do OTA update. I just want to know if I can flash 5.0.1 with odin directly to my 4.2.2. I will also appreciate it if I can get another download link for firmware apart from rapidgator for s4 gt-i19500

upgrading

thinking of either an HTC M9 or the Gxy S6. Currently on a M7 which I quite like.
Any feedback on the S6?

Anybody on a Note 3 and thinking about upgrading?

Anybody thinking of upgrading to the note 5 from the 3? The only thing that really concerns me is the battery. being a power user and with the 10,000 mah Zerolemon on my Note 3 the battery is great!

What are some of your thoughts about going from the 3 to 5?

Is the 4 still worth looking into?

Upgrading on Verizon and keeping unlimited data.

Posts1 Posts

I have my line which is UDP and am able to upgrade.I got on BestBuy website and it tells me that if I choose to use my upgrade I will be switched to a 2*gb*plan. My question is, is this normal and I should just go with it or is this something new. I want to upgrade to either the note 5 or sg6+. Thoughts on which phone and how to keep Udp?

Random Data Dropouts Since Upgrading to NJ5 baseband

Not sure if its just my phone and my service (MVNO on TMO network) but I've started to experience random data dropouts since upgrading to NJ5. They don't last long and don't seem to happen to terribly often but are there and I didn't notice them when using NJ4. Just throwing it out there.

Question about upgrading to 5.1 Lollipop

Hi ! I have a specific question about 5.1 lollipop. If I install cyanogenmod 12.1 and then decide to revert back to KitKat, will there be a problem with bootloader, csc or anything else ? I never tested Android Lollipop on any device, so I'm very intersted to try it. Thanks.

Touchscreen Issue (after upgrading to 5.1.1)

Brightness slider wasn't responding to my touch sometimes, so I checked out the touch screen service test via *#*#7378423#*#*. Sure enough, major no-touch spots particularly with horizontal movement on the space near the top of the screen. This problem only began since the update to 5.1. Thoughts? Besides rolling back...worried it's a hardware issue?

Have a screenshot of the service test but unable to post here. If needed, let me know.

Help or Suggestions Upgrading to 5.0 or other custom ROM

Hello,

I am new to rooting and never had much success. This is my first successful attempt. I followed this guide

http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...-2014-t2959613

and now have a rooted 4.4.2 Galaxy S4. SuperSU is installed and claims it disabled knox and Root Checker says I have root. I was able to change the file that disables continuous scrolling successfully but now I have another problem. I keep constantly getting this OTA upgrade notice. I don't know if I should do it or not because I dont know if I will lose root. I would like a bloat free lollipop or other custom rom and am open to suggestions. If you suggest a guide or method the more idiot proof the better because I really can't afford to jack this up.

On verizon, which hates rooting. Not worried about warranty because I have none. Its a used phone off ebay.

Android 4.4.2
Base I545VRUFNK1
Kernal 3.4.0
Build KOT49H.(Base)

Please dont treat me like I am stupid because I already know I am compared to most of you.

Thanks in advance for helpful criticism and suggestions.

Upgrading Rooted Tablet to Software Upgrade 3.1 for Recall

Hi,

I have a 32GB LTE RoW NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet, in France.

I rooted my tablet shortly after receiving it in December 2014, and haven't really upgraded the OS after that, so I'm still on the 2.1 software update (running Android 5.0.1). I never installed CWM or TWRP.
My tablet is one of the tablets affected by the recall (I checked the serial number), but since I'm still running the 2.1 software upgrade and need the 3.1 software upgrade to go through the recall procedure, I tried using the builtin OTA installer, which errored once it rebooted to install. I then told myself it was probably because my tablet was rooted, so I tried unrooting with SuperSU, which errored. I then tried flashing a new recovery.img using fastboot, but when I select `fastboot protocol` from the recovery menu, it just cycles back to the recovery menu. I attempted to re-root with towelroot and SuperSU but towelroot froze and SuperSU failed.

I'm really not sure what to do at this stage and I'm afraid I might have bricked my tablet. It boots into the Android OS just fine, but I'd both really enjoy doing the software upgrade and doing the tablet recall. Any help is greatly appreciated, though I'd like to avoid answers discouraging participation in the recall if possible.

A million thanks in advance,
MrAster

Lag,stability Issues after finally OTA upgrading to Lollipop 5.0.1 from rooted 4.4.4

Hello guys.... this is one of my first posts here so go easy on me...
Trying to get to the bottom of an issue I'm experiencing on my Nexus 4 16GB after updating.

So I had been postponing updating to Lollipop for months... (was still on 4.4.4 stock cuz I didn't quite like the new UI) and decided to update Sunday (Aug 10th) morning. Big mistake, apparently.

The OTA 5.0.1 update made my phone become unstable, lag, and crash at random. Constantly get "X ins't responding", where X can be anything from Launcher to System UI to Chrome! Regular google apps are generally non-responsive and supper laggy.
For Ex: Can't open Play Store, the app tries to open but all I see is a white app window, same with Photos, or maps... ironically Whatsapp and certain other non-google apps are opening.

So I currently can't even use my N4 much, I'm trying to find out a what's causing this and if I need to revert the upgrade or flash a ROM or something,

My 4.4.4 was rooted FWIW, and now it's not. Not sure if it's helpful, but I have about 1.3GB free internal storage, and 1GB free memory when I run. So I don't think the issues are being caused by an app I installed or some service running wild. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Phone Suck on "Android is upgrading" message

a long time ago I flashed my HTC one with the ViperOneM8 version 4.3.0 but recently a new version of that has came out, version 4.5.1. After successfully flashing the new update I was waiting on my phone to update and be ready to use when I realised that my phone has been stuck on the "android is upgrading" message for a very long time. The message come after the "Optimizing apps *number* out of *number*" message. Iv tried to turn the phone off by holding the power button for over 1 minute but nothing happened and now I'm puzzled. I would appreciate any help that anyone could give me. PS I don't have any way to get a picture of the message.

Manual upgrading Nexus 6 without wiping data.

A little how-to on upgrading your nexus phone without having to wipe your data if you rooted and installed some stuff onto system partition.

WARNING!
DO NOT USE THIS METHOD IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT USING COMMAND LINE! THIS HAS A POSSIBILITY OF BRICKING YOUR PHONE TO WHERE IT WONT BOOT.

Note:
You will loose the following when using this method:
-Custom Recovery
-Custom Kernel
-ANYTHING that is installed on the system partition including but not limited to: SU (root), Busybox, Xposed, etc.

What is needed:
-ADB (1.0.32+) and Fastboot
-Factory Image of Nexus 6 (https://developers.google.com/androi...s/images?hl=en)
-- MUST BE THE SAME BUILD VERSION AS YOUR CURRENT VERSION!
--- Check under System > About Phone > Build Number

Step 1 (Catch the update url):
Open up command prompt/terminal and type in

Code:

adb logcat

.
From here you will get a lot of debug lines, dont worry about any of it.
What we are looking for is the url to the update file.
When adb logcat is ready, start the update for your phone. (Dont worry about restarting or whatnot, you wont be using the file it's downloaded anyway).
From the url, use that to download the update file to your computer.

Step 2 (Backup):
This is important as a just in case **** happens thing.
BACK UP YOUR PHONE if you have a custom recovery.
Don't think that this update method is foolproof.
Don't even think.
BACK IT UP!

Step 3 (Restore to "Factory"):
This is where it gets hairy.
Using the factory image you downloaded open up the "image-shamu-<build>.zip" file and extract "boot.img", "recovery.img", and
"system.img".
Restart your phone to bootloader either with adb or pressing and holding power + vol down.
From here, in a command prompt/terminal, type:

Code:

fastboot flash boot <boot.img path>

Code:

fastboot flash recovery <recovery.img path>

Code:

fastboot flash system <system.img path>

System image will take the longest and will be streamed to the phone so just wait until it's finished.

Step 4 (Upgrade):
ok, now that we are in "Factory" settings, start up your phone in recovery mode.
From the recovery screen you should see the little android with the red exclamation point icon thing.
Press and hold power and click the volume up button. Release power button.
From here, select

Code:

apply update from ADB

now in command prompt type:

Code:

adb sideload <update.zip path>

Step 5: ???
Step 6: Profit!

I have done this method twice and haven't experienced any problems myself. As stated above, this does have the possibility of mucking something up so be sure to have backups.

After everything is done, you are using your phone in stock mode.
flash your custom recovery and custom kernel if you'd like. Also reinstall root via custom recovery (twrp will let you know) and busybox.

Troubleshooting:
- Update says system partition has unexpected contents.
-- Reflash system.img.
- Get adb sideload error (xxx)
-- Make sure you have the latest version of adb and that your drivers for your phone are installed. Sometimes you have to manually install the adb drivers when in sideload mode.

Network Issues after upgrading to 23.4.A.0.546

Just as the title says. After updating to 5.1.1 I noticed that I'm getting a terrible network signal anywhere I go unless I'm directly outside.
I could be inside a building near a window and my network will be 1 bar or even less sometimes.

Is there anyone else experiencing this? Is there any way to fix this?
I flashed the Greece version and then updated with my local baseband and kernel etc.

Thanks.

LG G2 D802 Refurbished, problems after upgrading rom

Hello to all and hope you will be fine
My Problem: i bought LG G2 D802 last week, it was running on 4.4 kit kat, i thought to root my phone and to install android 5.0,
So i use " one click recovery" for rooting but sudddenly my phone stuck in fastboot mode, after a lot of search i find a solution with LAF, BOOT, ABOOT etc, but i flash these .img files of d801 unfortunately. after that in download mode i installed KDZ, for turned on but touch is not working its awkward.
After searching lot i find that my LG G2 is Refurbished. i opened it and see the motherboard and D800 was written on it. So it is D800, but it always shows d802 in adb.
After doing above all things what happened to my phone
No network
Baseband Unknown
Imei Null
Touch is not responding
Internal 32 gb but showing 10gb
Restarts after 1 or 2 minutes
im currently using it with Mouse and so worried as i had managed money with great difficulty. :crying:
