Another awesome Review!

Check out my review on Sammys new phablet the Note 5. Returning from many other phones, I managed to pick this one up over the Edge plus. The stylus is what kept me and Im quite amazed by the quality of this phone. Although many fans are upset due to the removal of the back cover and the sd card, I can tell you we need to move on to the cloud. So here is the review guys! Hope it serves you well. Thanks for your time.

Another boot loop

Hello!
First of, I would like to apologize if you have seen this same thread title for nth time.
I have a problem with my note 10.1 (prior 2014 version) and warranty has expired already so I'm searching for the solution in the internet and it always lead me to xda site.
I have tried almost all guides and help I found in the internet and I think I'm going in circles. I have not done installing a custom rom in any of my android devices as I'm afraid to encounter an issue and not be able to resolve. But even though I update with only the official software update, I encountered my worst fear. My note is brick (I think). So here's what happen.

More that a month ago, I saw my note installing some updates. Then after some minutes, it re-started and the screen with something like "Downloading..do not turn off target" message appeared. I let it be until I sleep at night, I just connected the charger to ensure my note will not turn off. But when I wake up in the morning, my note is still showing the same screen and as I know, the software update wont take 8hrs to complete. I tried to re-start and the screen with "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." message. At that time, I did not know what Kies is, so I searched the internet. After I downloaded Kies, I restart my note but Kies does not recognize it.

And so my search for the solution in the internet has started, trying to follow all guides I encounter. For weeks I have tried but to no avail, until one day, I tried to install auto root. For the first time, I saw odin with the "PASS" message and I saw the samsung logo again. It continued to boot until I saw my wallpaper again. So I thought I have fixed it already. But when I was setting up the time zone, my note hang and I have no choice but to re-start. After the re-start, I'm back to where it all started.
I tried the same procedure I did when I had a temporary success but this time it always failed.

Sorry for the long story as I was trying to give the complete background as I think it will be helpful. Hopefully, you guys can help me resolve my issue. I really like Android but I never thought that it will be this hard to resolve an issue with it.

Thanks in advance! :good:

Can I restore apps from another phone to fix this boot loop?

I have one Kyocera Hydro Icon that I rooted using Root Genius, and after deleting a system apps my phone now reboots like 10 seconds after boot if it is not in airplane mode. I purchased a second Kyocera Hydro Icon and rooted it with Bin4ry Root. I would like to know if there is a way I can copy everything from the new phone to the old one, and if this would restore functionality to my phone?

Another bootloop problem

hey guys today i was rooting my nexus player.
everything was smooth until SuperSU didn not show up.
after restarting my NP i got stock in boot loop.

I tried to use adb to access my device but ran into an issue
when i use: adb devices - it shows me empty list of devices.
i think its because i can not detect it because its not actually boot in the rom it self.

does anyone know how to fix this?

things i tied:
updating drivers
using adb devices
unplugging power cord and pluging back in
using different usb cables

any help would be very appreciated
thank you.

Another bricked s6 (dm-verity verification)

Pretty sure it's hosed but I will ask anyway.

What I have is a verizon S6 that is on AOE2, stock other than root.

What I did to cause brick: I tried flashing wifi tether mod, but flashed the AOC3 version by mistake. I flashed via flash fire but it is stuck in a boot loop.

The problem: Boot looping at verizon screen. Odin and smart switcher wont see the device in recovery/odin mode.

What I have tried: Clear cache and factory reset, No change. I tried odin but the pc does not see the phone in recovery. Same with smart switch and ADB. They do see the device during boot up prior to the reboot, about 38seconds during the verizon logo. Also they see it with the phone completely off but won't allow any changes.

[Q] [MediaTek] Flashing preloader from another super similar model

Don't know if I should've asked somewhere else but here it goes...

The device I have is a K-Free (or K-Phone) K480 aka Karbonn Titanium S25 Klick (it has another name in the store I bought it jeez) and what I'm specifically trying to do is to boot a kernel from another phone, almost exactly the same model Gigabyte GSmart Mika M3. Both phones run on the MT6582 platform.

Both devices are nearly identical, with the exception of the front facing camera where on the GSmart it is 8MP and on mine it is 5MP (the only difference in H/W mind you) and I even have the case for it on my phone. The point is - the hardware could be considered the same thing. Then I took a look at the software side of things...

Guess what - everything's almost the same as well, down to the partition layout (scatter files identical), littlekernel (uboot) works on my phone and yet I can't boot the boot.img of it or even the OS (haven't tried too hard on copying system.img, it should've worked with the ROM I have) so the only conclusion I can make is that the preloader needs to be flashed as well which is the most scary part.

Comparing the two preloaders from each phone, the one I have is newer than the one from the GSmart and I know why exactly - the dude in the store flashed my phone since it was a "new" model lol. The OEM provided them with software for Karbonn Titanium S25 (v1.7). Other than the date, there are still some differences - at the large chunk at the beginning it is the same, some stuff is moved around and most of all the final portion is different and I assume that's for the kernel side of things, but I could be wrong. So in conclusion, a large part of it is similar as well.

The reason why I make this fuss about is because Gigabyte seems to update their devices more often for one and the second reason would be simply exploring the possibilities of what I can and can't do with my phone and finally, the third reason would be ultimately, Gigabyte provided me with kernel sources for their Mika M3 and yet nobody from K-Free or Karbonn have responded so I have to get the stock GSmart kernel running on my device anyway and I know it's possible.

Wifi-Direct with another phones

Hello. Recently I was trying to use Wi-Fi direct to transmit data to my Lg g2. I manually paired the devices from Settings menu then I selected a file-share-wifidirect and.... nothing! It showed me an empty screen with a Search For Devices button and in a few seconds responded with a message popup "Data transmission via Wi-Direct must be performed with another huawei device at the moment". WTF? Why? Is Wi-fi direct something huawei specific? I do not think so. The odd thing is that LG also allows to pair devices but does not give you a possibility to send data via Wi-Fi Direct forcing you to use SmartShare Beam which is LG-only technology. Why manufacturers are so stupid, they state their product has some technolohy but it's actually unusable! I do not wan't 2 huawei devices and I do not want 2 LG devices! On the other hand my old samsung s3 hanles it in a proper way, I was able to send files from it to both aforementioned devices using Wi-Fi Direct.
I know I can install SuperBeam to deal with my problem but it's inconvenient to install it on every device you want to transmit data to. So I just wanted to know if anyone else had this problem. Also my ROM is a bit old, something like b121(I have MT7-L10 version) so I wonder maybe they have already fixed it in some newer ROM especially the lates ones with Lolipop. If so I will try to install that rom. Thank you.
