[Q] Is it safe to install older radio on top of newer one?

Hello,

I've been having this issue lately where I don't get push notifications while on mobile data, and pages load quite slowly. I'm thinking it might be because I updated my firmware, as was suggested in my ROM's thread.

I'd like to try going back to the previous radio that I had - is that safe? I currently have the 17 June firmware, and would like to go back to the one from 15 May. Can I flash the older version on top just like that?

Thank you.

HTC one sprint WiFi Bluetooth FM Radio not working [Keep trying to turn on]

The problem is that the WiFi/bt/radio keep trying to turn on and after a long time (in the settings menu, where the buttons for on/off WiFi are located) it says error.

I am located in Ukraine, outside US. I will describe the problem by events in order.

1. Previously WIfi/BT/Radio were all working fine on Kitkat.

2. I Updated my Htc one M7 sprint via fastboot to Android 5.0.2, the official rom update from HTC US website.

3. After update, on the first boot the hands free activation came up. Since I am using a gsm sim, it could not proceed further with the message “Device cannot be activated on a GSM, only On CDMA”

4. I searched for solutions on xda, googled it, with no solutions in sight. Seems like the problem is not common. Anyways, found some loosely related posts on xda that guided,
a) Try to flash the radio with radio flashables. But the solution was not reliable, so i have not yet tried it.
b) That I should delete htcsetupwizar.apk and other sprint related apps from TWRP. Which I did before flashing ViperOne, but it did not work, although I could get into the phone menu but the phone kept rebooting if left untouched, or when power button on the top was tapped.

So currently, my device is running ViperOne 9.0.0, Hboot version 1.61, Radio version 1.01.20.1225, OS version 6.23.651.7, OpenDsp ver 35.120.274.0718
With S-ON

So should I flash the radio from TWRP ? Or consider downgrading the OS ?
Please help. Would be grateful.
If you need any logs or more info. Please write.

Do I have a bad radio?

Hi everyone, I've the M8 International, but I'm having some issues with signal, and I can't get 4G working on it in fact 3G would barely work.

Could it be that I've an old radio?

I'm in Argentina, Buenos Aires. 4G is working just fine in others phones. (Also, while I was on Canada I had the same issue)

I don't know if this will be of any help to you guys, but this is my baseband.

Thank you!

[Q] - Mobile Radio Keeps Active While Connected to WiFi

Hello.

I've an XT1058, which was running 4.4.4 retail argentina, then got the ota for 5.1 ...
I noticed battery life was impacted, thus I flashed the full 5.1 firmware from scratch, just to be sure...
Battery didn't get any better...

After days and days of testing, I found that my issue is that LP does not deactivate the mobile radio while being connected to a wifi network...
That's just killing my stand by time on wifi, which oddly enough does not affect the phone while actually using mobile network...
So I'm currently having better battery life while on mobile data than a healthy wifi connection...

All because mobie radio keeps active all the time while on wifi...

I managed to partially fix this bug, but it does not always work...
It basically is to play with airplane mode, deactivate mobile data, and connecting to wifi...
All that, just mixing the order and crossing your fingers... Some times it works, some times it does not...

Airplane mode does not work either, since while activated, you can actually see that "radio active" under "idle device" keeps adding seconds...
And battery life is less...

Any ideas ?
I believe this is being addressed in M, but I do not thing XT1058 will get it...
I'm seriously considering downgrading to 4.4.4 because of this...
My phone is 100% stock, no unlock bootloader or root...
And yet, it's less usable than a few weeks ago...

Thank you.

When I had the one m7 you could flash different radio versions

I was wondering if you could do the same for the m9. Currently I have a sim unlocked t-mobile m9 while using AT&T and I cannot get LTE to work properly. I was wondering if they were different radio versions I could try to see if an older or newer radio can fix this.

How do I backup the radio?

hello!

I wanted to check out the new versions of the radios out there, but before that, I'd like to save/backup my existing radio because i cannot find it online. Is there any way that i can do that?

Thanks!

The FM Radio on TMO S6

I've heard that there's an FM radio chip but it has been disabled by T-Mobile. Are there roms, or have there been attempts at re-enabling this?

Wrong radio mode after using data toggle - no cellular

I have an xt1049 on Republic Wireless on 4.4.4. I was messing around with gravity box toggles and used the network mode toggle. I believe it originally said lte on the toggle. It now only says 3g or 2g. I have removed the toggle from quicksettings. The signal cluster shows I have no service or the radio is off.
I have found that using lte switcher and changing the radio to lte/cmda auto gives me cellular and full signal, but does not stick through a restart. When I open the app it says it's on wcdma.
I have root and an unlocked bootloader.
How can I fix this?

EDIT: I've solved it. I used the same network toggle in gravity box, but I found a setting in gb for using LTE and CDMA modes. I toggled the toggle until it was back at LTE and rebooted.

[Q] No cellular data after radio flash.

Ok I'm an idiot. I did not backup my radio. I have flashed the radio/firmware several times before and thought that it would be no problem finding another radio that worked if it failed. But I have tried several different versions now with no change.

I flashed [ROM][5.1.1r6][UBER][OFFICIAL NOSP-LP][ALPHA][OPTI][NEW LAYERS SUPPORT] it works fine except that it kept loosing connection. Data / voice / Wifi and then I thought "Ok, my radio is quite old" so I went about finding and upgrading the radio.

But ever since first radio update the phone refuses to connect to cellular data. Right now im on firmware
7.19.401.2 Baseband 4T.33.3218.15_10.33_N1718.01L from this tread
[FIRMWARE] | [GUIDE] | [M7_UL] | Collection - Firmware | 7.19.401.2

I have tried another SIM card. No change. Tried the SIM in another phone where it works. Tried resetting APN. I have tried factory reset.

I tried LOGCAT to see if there was any errors, but could not see anything.

I would love to see some kind of error as to why it does not try to connect.

Record FM RADIO from app

I'm running gingerbread and I want to record fm radio from the stock app. But there seems to be no option like that. I don't want to use internet radio, and I've tried spirit fm, there isn't recording option for my audio method. So, basically I want a record the fm radio station while listening to the radio. Any possible way or app can do this?

FM Radio Confirmed

I didn't see this anywhere so I wanted to make sure it was posted. The Z3v does indeed have FM radio capability and works with the (paid) Spirit FM radio app (requires root). Sorry if I missed the post where this information was already listed. For some reason the Next FM radio app does not work with it.

[Q] Where are the Radio MAC addresses stored?

Thanks to pr001, I have found the reason that the current batch of custom ROMs do not reconnect to paired BT devices after the phone is rebooted. is empty

It is because the folder root/data/etc/ is empty. In a good environment, their should be a file named bluetooth_btaddr (among others) there. That file is a plain text file which contains the MAC address.

After reading a post in the BlissROM thread there is also an issue where two phones both running the same ROM are causing issues with connecting to a wifi network as both devices have the same wifi MAC address. and with this experience with the BT MAC address I am left with the following questions.
  • Aren't the radios MAC addresses fixed to the radio hardware itself?

  • If not, how does stock firmware provide unique MAC addresses for the radios?

  • If the radio chipsets do have MAC addresses tied to them, how can the devs access them?
