Update Available, but does not show on phone

Hey Guys,

This is going to sound silly, but I have an Z3 D6603 that has 5.1.1 on it. I got an email from Sony earlier in the week telling me there was an update available, to what I believe fixes stage fright. I have been checking all week and the update is not showing up. I even connected it to a computer to check.

I called Sony this morning, and they told me that this was Google's fault and they were just the manufacturer. I am pretty sure this guy was just didn't know what he was talking about. Wanted to transfer me to Google.

Is there a Global FTF firmware that I can flash for it? I searched in the forums but could only find the UK one. I am in Canada if that matters.

Apps Able To Change "Show Notifications" Setting?

So I can't remember if this used to happen on my stock GS4 since I've been running CM for so long, but on my GS5, certain apps are able to override the "Show notifications" checkbox in Settings/Applications! I feel like I'm going crazy since I'm constantly having to uncheck the notifications box. I've set the apps to not Auto Update to make sure it wasn't part of an app update installation process, but that made no difference.

The main offenders that I have installed on my phone are Plants vs. Zombies 2 and theCHIVE. PVZ2 notifications are sooo annoying when my plants sprout, and then frankly, I only want to Chive on when I choose to. Not gonna buy clothing.

Does anyone else get these issues on the GS5?

I have been rooted for so long I don't know if this has something to do with root permissions being exploited, or it's stupid TouchWiz messing up Android. Any suggestions? It's only happening to PVZ2 and theCHIVE as I'm aware. My other apps retain the unchecked state. This is a security breach in my opinion. Settings shouldn't randomly be undone.

This is very similar to my LastPass app fill settings randomly unsetting after a reboot. Ugh I hate TouchWiz with a passion. My Nexus 7 devices (rooted & stock) do not have this issue with the same apps so I'm pointing my finger at Samsung for the moment.

Bricked Lumia 925 - Phone doesn't show up in Device Manager

Hi everyone,
I bricked my phone yesterday, while installing the WP 10 Preview.
It first showed up as QHSUSB_DLOAD (after red screen and stuff) while trying to recover it with WPRT 2.1.1, but now, after ejecting the device, it is not detected at all when I connect it to my laptop (running Windows 10).
The phone is fully charged (left it charging the whole night) and I don't really know what to do next.
Any ideas?

I unlocked with MSL code and now i cannot get it to register on my computer tried different usbs cables adb fastboot recovery nothing shows up anywhere. Not sure if worked before MSL code because it still charges did a month ago.

Stock recovery constant error, downgraded ROM and updates won't show

Hey y'all, I was on 2.19.40.22 rooted with one click root and successfully applied last week's update to 2.20.40.58 and kept root.
I tried to update to 2.20.40.59 and my phone got all sorts of ****ed up. So I successfully formatted and wiped everything and downgraded to pre-rooted 2.19.40.18 (also downgraded boot/droidboot/stock recovery). After unrooting SuperSU so I'd have a fully stock ROM, I tried updating. That got botched.

So I wiped everything again (including internal storage/data) and fully installed 2.19.40.22 and now my phone sees no updates from ASUS pending and every time I try to enter stock recovery, it just plays like it's trying to apply an update and then throws up the error message. This happens without any OTA update zips in internal storage to trigger recovery to try to apply an update.

I've also tried the other manual way to update (the method other than MOFD_SDUPDATE) and my phone will try to apply the update then displays the same error message again.

I'm at the my wits end having tried everything I can think of, have spent the better part of 6hrs ****ing with my phone. Anyone have any insight?

it's been a while I left the project, but now I restart it and re-write all the code with a native apk reader (20 times faster), and I have added several important features.

Home screen icons show green android robot?

I just flashed a new custom ROM (Resurrection Remix) and restored the Google now launcher from my titanium backup but the green android robot is appearing as the icon for some apps on the home screen (such as for WhatsApp and gmail).

I have tried clearing the cache, dalvik and reinstalling Google now launcher but it hasn't helped so far... I know I can drag and drop the icons from the app drawer but that would be a headache and i think something might be seriously wrong for the app icons to be displayed like this.

Any quick fix?

ot charge when power off. Neither show ray in battery icon when charging.

Hello. Sorry for my english, is so poor.
My phone:
Eachine M1 KitKat 4.4.2 Stock ROM
When powered off the charge battery screen is in a loop. It shows Battery Logo in low/red level. Blackout every 3 seconds.
No charging progress. Only get hot.

When Powered on it charges but no appears the ray in the battery icon.
I've rooted and reset BatteryStats.
Also installed MobileUncle Tools, and this is what I can see:

Do these cheap ICS dongles show native 1080p image or is it upscaled?

I want to buy a very cheap, used Android TV stick for one reason only: to play 1080p video with subtitles on my HDTV. The only thing holding me back is the fear that the manufacturers aware of the limits of their hardware somehow blocked native 1080p feed and instead allow some upscaling. What is it like from your experience?
