[Q] Upgrade from KitKat to Lollipop or Root First?

Hating Sammy atm. I'm getting the notice to update once an hour now. I don't want to update because I'm still testing the phone and want to root KK. Still in my return period but don't want to. Just want the update issue resolved.

Questions/info, etc.
1. Solved.
2. I want to root, but prefer rooting KK, not LP because I like the idea of being able to downgrade later if I really hate LP, and I'm hearing a lot of bad stuff about LP.
3. Not rooting until I'm sure I'm keeping this baby - i.e. no other issues, etc. Samsung can bite me!
4. What would you do?
5. I have previously rooted four devices, but am a beginner at best.
6. If anything goes wrong with root I am really screwed because I don't want a Note 5.
7. I trust the long-term, knowledgeable xda guys so that's who I'm really asking.
8. I don't want a rom, only root and twerp or cwm at some point, but not yet.
9. I would tend to use CF auto-root since it worked for me on the Note 3.
10. I can do a factory reset, but just got it all set up yesterday.
11. Which root and why?
12. Will I be able to downgrade if I update to LP or would I be better off waiting and dealing with the update notice?

I'm on KitKat 4.4.4 and everything is smooth with zero issues.

First time Root - No Command Errors

Hi all,

I got a VZ replacement GS4 the other day and was lucky that it was still running 4.4.2 so I decided to give a go at rooting the device. I tried a few one-click solutions but none seemed to work. I eventually found a method on these forums([How-To] Root I545_NK1 - 4.4.2 (12-1-2014)) by muniz_ri that worked like a charm. Here are all my current info...



After gaining root access, I downloaded superuser, Titanium Backup and Rom Manager. First thing I did was back up all my Apps/Data with TB. I wanted to flash some ROMs before I did I went into ROM Manager to backup the current ROM and after the initial reboot I noticed it was not booting into CWM Recovery but what i think is the stock recovery and would show the android for a second and then it would show it "dead" with the error triangle above with the message "No Command". From there I just continued with the system reboot option 1.

I tried a few more times, same result. I even tried TWRP to try to backup the current ROM and I'm getting the same result.

Any suggestions on what can be going on?

i instal a new rom then my phone didn't have annt signal and could read my simcard.
today i install a new rom to see if it maybe fix it but now my hpone only says sim card is locked or no service.

How should I charge the note 4 for the first time?

Okay I googled this and I have gotten mixed results some saying that lithium ion batteries doesn't need to be charged for hours while others are actually saying it's still needed or let it drain to 20 % charge to 100% then drain to 20% then charge to 80% i did Google lithium ion batteries it did say they don't need to be charged for hours but every device I have brand new or not including my brand new iPod 6 I have now don't ask I'm leaving iOS actually lol all have poor battery life so I need to stop blaming the manufacturers and start blaming myself lol please any help would be appreciated:)

I want to root my first ever HUAWEI HONOR 6+. Need help urgently...!

I have purchased Huawei Honor 6 Plus yesterday, and the phone looks promising. I had sony before and I want to take some of the apps+data from my sony into my Honor 6 Plus. For that I need to root my device. Can anyone here tell me how to root a Huawei Honor 6 Plus device running android kitkat 4.4.2? Please be more specific and in easy layman terms. No chinese mishmash is allowed.

First flash in 2 years

Hey guys, I happen to be running an old shostock rom from shortly after I got the phone. I believe I have the mdl bootloader but am only 90% sure.

Since it has been so long and I see so many threads about having to use safestrap I just want to be cautious with my flash.

I would like to try out a newer, but very stable ROM. Which ones are compatible with my device? I assume I still need to flash lokidoki.zip?

I used to love miui on my old inspire/desire hd....is there a good port for the gs4?

Question from a first time Android user

Hey guys, just got my new Asus ZenFone 2 today. I didnt think this was for Q&A because it seems like more of a question of opinion. But I've tried both the native and Chrome browser and the native one seems to work quickly and efficiently, memory wise. I know a lot of people prefer Chrome, but aside from a few tweaks and sync ability, I don't see much of a reason to not use the native browser. Ring in with your opinions and educate the newbie. What do you prefer and why? Btw, loving Android so far. :)

Fixed screen, at first green light on charge, now not booting and overheating charge

Hi today i got my nexus 6 back, after a smashed screen, i put it on charge and at first i had the green light in the speaker grill, then after a few minutes that light went out and nothing much happened when i tried to turn it on, i left it to charge for a while and when i went to check on the phone, it was getting quite hot (probably as hot as it would on heavy gaming).

Basically i don't know the issue here, im hoping it is a minor thing as at first something did happen, then the overheating with nothing happening. Do you reckon this is done for, or it is saveable?

We use App locks to keep the application safe, I would like to take App lock into next leave of Finger print App unlock.

Hi there anybody know how to fix this problem.i cant boot my phone with original kernel its stocks to s6 edge screen.when im going to recovery mode said (dm verity verification failed need to check DRK first)i have tried to install random firmwares with odin but doesnt work.

The thing is that I´d like to install a ICS based stock rom. I have downloaded the latest FOP Rom from Sammobile for my country. Now .......I read here in the forum that some kernels are unsafe to flash from.....so I am in Panic!!
My first question is.............. which safe kernel should I download for my cell phone?. I don´t understand all the numbers and characters here for the different versions. Please let me know which kernel iI should download!.

Very weird sound - First time i ever hear it

Hi guys!

The sound started playing 2-3 days ago everytime i power my screen on.
The sound in question

Its not the lockscreen, i dont remember to install any new apk.
The issue is also linked with the infrared sensor not working properly. When im calling someone the screen flashes near my ear (the screen is not black)

Do you know whats causing it?
